  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

Vladimir Putin’s troops would be defeated by [Nato](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/nato/) if he dared to launch an attack on Europe’s eastern flank, the chief of the German armed forces has said.

In an interview with *The Telegraph*, General Carsten Breuer, the Bundeswehr chief of defence, said he had “no doubt” that Germany and other Nato forces stationed in the east could repel Russian soldiers if they invaded neighbouring Baltic states.

He also said he did not expect that Putin would resort to using nuclear weapons strikes in the next stages of the Ukraine war, but called on the British and German armies “to have confidence in each other” through the difficult years ahead, quoting Field Marshal Montgomery.

Gen Breuer’s remarks reflect a major shift in Germany, which for years has been reluctant to play a leading security role in Europe, such as building up its armed forces, due to the country’s Nazi past.

Asked whether German and other Nato forces stationed in the Baltics were strong enough to repel a Russian invasion, General Breuer said: “Yes. I have no doubt of that. But primarily, it is a matter of deterrence. Based on our current assessment, my concern is not so much a Russian invasion in the near future.”

“Rather, in my role as the chief of defence, it is the paramount importance of achieving the readiness of Germany’s armed forces within the next five years. We call this *Kriegstüchtigkeit* – being ready, capable and willing to fight. We are on the right track,” he said.

He also pointed out that Germany’s army “has … adapted our training to focus primarily on deployment and to operating on Nato’s eastern flank.”

  2. Without air superiority, Russia would likely struggle even advancing in Ukraine. Can’t imagine the difficulty they would have vs F-16, F-18, Gripen, etc 3rd or 4th Gen fighters with longer air to air capability.

  3. Russia will never allow a war like what’s happening in Ukraine to happen with wider Europe. F35’s and Eurofighters/Rafale’s alone decide that. It’s Nukes that we need to worry about if it turns into West vs Russia on the battlefield.

  4. They wouldn’t without ammo!! … and the Ukrainians will if they get enough ammo and long range weapons. If NATO can’t arm Ukraine to win it wouldn’t be able to do it itself either- this is the real test

  5. Yes but why are those planes, weapons and amo needed in France Italy Spain Germany?

  6. All the intelligence on where Russians wat manufacturing would be joined by the ability to hit it with ease. Ukraine have done it without the weapons.

Swarm drones on the front would quickly wipe out Russias forces in Ukraine when joined with air strike capabilities.

Nato would.just be scared wiping them out too quickly in case Russia panicked.

  7. Thats the reason for all the nuke-threats. But good that you told it, someone might not know.

  8. Obviously the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation would, that goes without saying. He’s talking about Hans Nato, some gun nut from east Germany. Analysts predict that he would defeat Putin’s troops.

  9. Germany has 6 land brigades (had 20+ before Merkel), Ukraine: 100-120+. Easy to talk when you have USA bases all over your country how “we will win together”.

  10. What are they waiting for? Putin is not going to get any weaker with time. Winning a war is all about being smart and taking the opportunities where and when they are presented. Russia is suffering massive losses in Ukraine. At the moment, they don’t have the resources (men, tanks etc.) to win the war if things were to escalate on the battlefield. Besides not having enough manpower they lack the training and the moral. Key ingredients. Use it!

    1) Deploy air defence across all of Scandinavia and central Europe.
    2) Move in NATO ships with heavy strike capability to the baltic sea to shorten distance to potential targets.
    3) Synchronise the NATO air brigades and be ready to destroy Kaliningrad at moments notice.
    4) Increase the shipment of tanks, manpads, ammo, etc. to Ukraine.

Then… Fill Ukraine, slowly but steady, with “green little men” without official NATO signs. Put them in the tanks and trucks you ship. This sudden reinforcement will destroy Russia on the battlefield. If the enemy moves a finger towards official NATO troops, you are ready to make the first strike.

Putin is only deterred by strength. It’s time to flex the muscles. Use his own sneaky tactics against him.

  11. Yeah, when the couple hundred to a thousand F35,F16,Rafale,Typhoons and Gripens that are stationed in Europe alone enter the fight, your AA being a memeforce won’t fly. Add the NATO navy dominating the Baltic Sea, giving long range fire and anti air support and it’s getting real grim real fast.

  12. Well, I mean.. Yeah? Does this surprise anyone?

Apart from nukes, NATO has an absurdly larger military force than Russia. It’s really not even remotely close, and I don’t think that’s much of a secret. A quick google search turns up a plethora of infographics like this:

  13. At this point, putting 100M USD for Putin dead or alive 50 for the helpers will probably do the trick
