  1. Congrats to (certain) EU members for not doing anything for the 1000th time in a row. It is impossible to describe how frustrating watching our inaction and indecisiveness in the face of imperialism is. Authoriatarian states supply Russia with missiles, artillery and much more needed to attack Ukraine, while we sit and debate endlessly while not helping in any way (muh EsCaLAtiOn)

  2. It’s basically if Trump would say: protecting Germany from Russia would be a potential escalation for WWIII and nuclear war.

But seriously, excuse that Ukraine would use Taurus on Russia territory is so lame-as Ukraine had so many chances to use himars on Russian territory but never did it in two years to be compliant with all the requirements.

  3. The juxtaposition between this piece of news and Iran sending balistic missiles to Russia is frankly disgusting.

Just what in the fuck are we doing? And I’m not singling out Germany here, they are doing much more than Italy (which is one of the most pathetic countries in terms of aid sent), but we as the EU are just observing while Ukraine is fighting for their existence while giving them pocket change relative to what we could give them to actually win. I’m feeling embarassement from all of this. I’m sorry Ukraine.

  4. Hi, if Im correct, this was a from and opposition. Later they voted in FAVOR, but that’s was another bill.

UPD: people in sub-thread correct and expand on what I wrote.

  5. They are afraid of conflict rising. Yeah. Meanwhile, ruzzia is about to claim part of Moldova to be ruzzian territory.

  6. This is a complete misrepresentation what went down – in a way the true story is much more interesting and certainly more complicated.

Scholz doesn’t want to deliver Taurus which angers both the opposition (which never cared about Ukraine or Bundeswehr before 2022) and two of the three coalition partners. Scholz’ own SPD is divided.

So, a consensus resolution was drafted that called on the government to make way for a delivery of “certain long range weapons”, where those drafting the resolution could not call them Taurus to not create a political crisis. That one was accepted in parliament.

Opposition drafted a resolution calling for Taurus deliveries, but this was more of a way to put pressure on the government as they perfectly well knew it would not be accepted, so zero political risk for them.

  7. People who do not understand, how can Iran, North Korea send missiles, ammo, weapons and everything, while we do not miss a really important point. The whole world is a business. The key difference is, that Russia actually pays for the missiles and munition with money, technology and intel, while we should pay ALONGSIDE the Taurus missiles and other weapons we are already supporting. On one side it is a cash exchange, on the other side its a net cash outflow. Since the whole point of every geopolitical action is the money and power at the end, we can get a better understanding why are the deliveries “smooth” on one side, while sloppy on the other.

  8. We do not know why yet. The chancellor has access to secret information, which we do not. Maybe Taurus is currently a very faulty system and they don’t want to embarrass themselves by putting it to use. Maybe the opposite, it is an extremely advanced system and they do not want the russians to get hands on it yet. Instead ukraine will get more conventional systems (which was agreed on, just not Taurus).

  9. Imagine if Ukraine had received F-16s, Taurus, etc in the first months of the war. Might already be over by now….

  10. You know what this feels like? The period after WW2 when Easter Europe was left to Russia’s mercy, of which there was none.

We barely recovered from communism and now we face the same peril again.

I hope Romania, Poland and the Baltic states will be able to hold Russia back, but we sure could use some help, I hope we all stand together.

  11. Seriously, stop being so pathetic. This is not normal. Just embarrassing. How long will this war continue…

  12. Taurus missiles won’t change how the war is going. Ukraine needs cheep weapons but at huge scale – artillery rounds, cheap kamikaze drones, etc. You can’t repel ruzzian meat waves without extensive artillery support.

Germany already did a lot to support Ukraine both economically and with weapons, huge thanks for that.

  13. This is so misleading. At the same time they voted to send weapons to ukraine (probably even taurus). They just voted no for the CDU proposal.

  14. Germany (and others) worry so much about potential conflict with russia that it will inevitably become a conflict due to inaction. If ukraine falls due to lack of aid and support, then any other country next to russia is on the chopping block and then we all have to step in. We cannot allow ourselves to look away blindly like germany taking sudetenland in 1938, or invading poland, since we all know what comes after.

  15. Guys. It is the second anniversary today. If you don’t mind showing your support please join demonstrations today and on the weekend.
Europe is blessed with democracy. Help Ukraine defend ours.
    Love you.

  16. This is becoming a fucking joke at this point m Russia’s allies are supplying the fuck out of Russia. Meanwhile the west just stumbles along doing fuck all. We in the west should all be collectively ashamed. This is pathetic at this point. This is basically encouraging Russia and China and their allies to step up to us. FFS man this is unreal

  17. This kind of lingering will only cause the war to drag on longer, costing more lives, and in the end, more recourses from all western nations. The short term politics is ruining Europe.

  18. Man reddit really wants world war 3 all of a sudden. Crazy….

  19. EU is marred by an extreme level of bureaucracy at best and grand standing in place of action at worse. Wish they would get their shit together.

  20. All of Europe will reap the consequences of their spinelessness very soon
