Can we have the people who share a border with Russia weigh in on what kind of neighbors they are.
India should be relieved , that they only have to deal with China , and not Russia …
You can look at what they are doing to others and condemn it though……
Yet
Yet. If they take Ukraine they will be emboldened to expand. It will keep happening if they know they can get away with it

Fuck you I like cheap fuel
Smart. A nation should do what is best for them and their people.
Putin – “Ukrainians are our brothers” – please go see the memorial at Bucha and Irpin near Kyiv.
Those people wondering about India- Russia relations, first go watch usa history with India.. it was Russia, which saved India from arrogant USA
The majority of the Global South does not agree with the US and Western Europe’s positions on Ukraine, not just India.
The west (and especially America) allying with Pakistan instead of India is the biggest political mistake in the 20th century.
Edit: Ok, maybe not the biggest in the 20th century, but certainly one of the biggest.
India has had close relations with Russia (Soviet Union) for a long time. They helped India after it declared independence from the British. It’s not as black and white as the comments here are making it seem. It’s actually an interesting read about the history of it:

Back in its days Zhirinovskiy promised to wash boots of Russian soldiers in the Indian Ocean.
Europe has NATO. They have no idea what it’s like to be surrounded by enemies. Just crack open a map and look at where India is lol.
India’s got the patience of a saint. If the US was situated where India is and was surrounded by enemies, nuclear winter would be upon us already.
India’s foreign minister already understood the different sight between Europeans and Asians for the Russian Confederation. Russia would like to invade the EU nations but doesn’t want to make negative relationships with other Asian states. On the contrary, India doesn’t have a peaceful connection with the People’s Republic of China, furthermore, the central government of India has imported huge numbers of weapons and missile development technology from the Russian Confederation to vigilant China, on top of that, it also imported cheaper but high-quality gas and petroleum since the USA’s sanction.
Until now, the US and EU used to criticize India’s closer tie with the Russian government, but PM Modi disregarded their criticism though India became a member of the QUAD. That’s India’s way. India needs diplomatic ties with the Russian government to fight against the PLA from China at the border. The US & NATO should offer some irresistible benefits for India’s national defense and economic profits if they want to make India their faithful member. India doesn’t have any interest in Europeans’ complicated situations. A home’s family members don’t have any interest in the next neighbor’s internal problems.
The west have never helped India in any of its conflicts and now expects India to go against a long term ally? The one that have safeguarded India’s interest against western aggression? GOOD LUCK with that.
Western countries fucks over poor countries for centuries and then act surprised whenever these poor countries don’t follow their lead now?
It’s why a lot of the global south supports Russia and China because those countries never did anything to them.
Except the various times they’ve knowingly and intentionally ripped off India (including by blackmailing military personnel), or forced Indian citizens into the front lines of their illegal war
Russia has catastrophically hindered Indian defense by selling them weapons for decades.
India is becoming a revisionist state and I’m worried about everybody is sleeping on it.
Those murders are just killing my neighbors and not hurting me. I like it.
It will
Like the little kid who would hang out with the bullies for protection, who’d get kicked the shit out of when the bullies were bored.
So when the mass killer gets convicted your answer would be: “he didn’t kill me”, right?
The west needs to fix ties with India as they will come to realize that Russia will eventually screw anyone over but themselved
It’s like saying a serial killer never killed any of my closest so it’s ok…
Indian reliance on Russia for military needs is definitely a factor in why India isn’t likely to condemn Russia. But an even bigger reason is nostalgia. I’ve noticed this trend on social media and Reddit forums—Indians often reminisce about the 1971 war, when the Soviets supported India, like it happened yesterday. On Twitter and Instagram, you’ll see Indians saying stuff like “Love Russia from India” in bulk. When this mindset has been ingrained for years, it’s unlikely that you’ll feel inclined to speak out against Russia. It’s deeply embedded. That’s why you see all the oddly emotional stuff like “Russia has never hurt us”—what does that even mean? How is it relevant to the fact that Russian weapons don’t even work, and relying too much on them could lead to defeat in a war? Or that Russia clearly values China more than India, and India can’t rely on Russia for defense or UN vetoes? The only explanation for this self-undermining behavior is that Indian policy in this regard is emotionally entrenched and will be hard to affect.
