I’m not surprised by this in the slightest
Please state that he didnt want community work and he isnt going to jail….
The same YouTuber who had to go to court after death threats made by his fans against other YouTubers after harassing them online because he could not stand the fact they were more popular than him.
It sounds like he doxed people not actually involved in the death, other than by being members of the same fraternity, making them sound guilty. So one of the parents sued for the damage he caused their business.
Whilst the case he was commenting about sounds awful, he could go after the people charged, or the justice system.
Just as context:
Wether the Youtuber is guilty of his charges or not, that does not matter here.
The outrage is because his punishment is so much more severe than what the fraternity members got.
Context for The Killing of Sanda Dia:
From Wikipedia:
> […] as part of a hazing ritual, Dia was obliged to drink copious amounts of alcohol before standing half-naked, outside in the cold, in a pool of freezing water and consuming a live goldfish before being forced to throw it back up by drinking dangerous, lethal amounts of fish sauce. […] After hours in the freezing pool, Dia went into cardiac arrest and collapsed
> Fraternity members then drove him to a local hospital in Malle. A nurse said she had the impression that the young men did not realise how serious his condition was (despite the fact that one of the Reuzegom members present at the hazing was a student in medicine – he however did not assist in helping Dia at any stage). On December 7, Dia died of multiple-organ failure. The coroner attributed his death to salt toxicity, attributable to the consumption of the fish oil. The amount of salt in his body was comparable to a person who drank 4 litres (0.88 imp gal; 1.1 US gal) (1.06 gal) of seawater.
> After the hazing, fraternity members, assisted by parents and by ex-members, coordinated the deleting of evidence like text messages and video recordings from their phones and cleaned up the cabin and its surroundings, in an attempt to cover up what had happened. [..] When the police arrived at the cabin at 3:53 a.m., on December 6, the scene had been cleaned.
> KU Leuven initially suspended the students but permitted them to resume studying later.
> On 26 May 2023, at the Antwerp Court of Appeal, eighteen students were each found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and degrading. Each of the students were acquitted of other charges, including culpable neglect and administering a harmful substance causing death or illness. They were fined €400 each and required to do community service sentences of 200 or 300 hours each.
> The students were additionally obliged to pay damages to the Dia family, €15,000 to his father, €8,000 to his brother and €6,000 to his stepmother. His mother sought and obtained damages of €1.
I don’t know what is the most fucked up thing here. The act itself, the fact that the students were not expelled from the university, the fact that one could be found guilty of manslaughter, degrading and erasure of evidence at the same time and doesn’t need to spend any time in jail or the fact that the mother got the ridiculous compensation of 1€.
He doxed and falsely accused people who weren’t even involved in the incident, as well as their parents.
He refused to apologise and kept proudly boasting about what he had done.
In court, he refused the community work sentence; only to then complain that he got a provisional jail time while the students only got a work sentence.
The verdict explicitely stated that he lacks any remorse or moral insight, and that he only did all of this to gain views.
He then asked his fans to pay his fine.
Dude is a textbook example of a manupilative psychopath.
And this is why Death Penalty should come back.
If this madness continues German would have no choice but to invade…
So is it a fish souce or a fish oil?
> The names he mentioned included some former members of the fraternity, who were not charged in connection with the death of student Sanda Dia following a hazing organised by the Reuzegom fraternity.
Important context – that is conveniently put at the very bottom of the article…
I think it’s worth mentioning that ‘Reuzegom’ (the fraternity) is a fraternity for students with rich families with a ‘bright’ future.
Class justice at his best at the heart of Europe.
Klassenjustitie.
i mean he doxxed people that were innocent and from what they say in the article didnt apologize for it , i see nothing wrong with this
Thank god they mentioned the student was a POC! how else would I know whether to be upset or not?
Why is it important that the student is a “Person of color”? Are we playing the Opression Olympics here?
Even if its “accidental” manslaughter, these students are demons who should be locked up. But they were let go with community service and 400€ fine? Since when is human life so fucking worthless? Even a russian costs more to send and die on the frontline in a meat charge.
« Poc » please keep USA bullshit out of this subreddit.
Race really has nothing to do with this story
And they are selling image that west is civilized and the crime is properly punished. And then you read things like this.
Belgium is a weird country. Probably the last place I would want to live in Europe.
It would be irresponsible to ruin the lives of such bright students. Community work is more than enough for these talented individuals!
What a crazy world we live in. Also what on earth is a ” PoC -student” ?
The names of these fuckfaces and their fraternity should be engraved on the un-forgetting internet for all posterity.
Especially that medicine student. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near that moron when he has become a medical doctor.
Should be in r/nottheonion
Wtf. These verdicts are a joke. In some countries you get jailed for life or even the death penalty for this. The fact that these people are still roaming the streets including a future doctor is very concerning.
Everything about this makes me physically ill, I can’t even imagine what the loved ones of the victim feel.
