  1. a million a year before taxes it would take someone to work 193 years…. Yeah umm no the ceo doesn’t deserve that and I can’t wait till all the US dollars are concentrated at the top and it all becomes worthless

  2. Well, I guess we figured out how to hit u/spez’s profitabilty goals. There’s some fat to cut right there.

  3. As a private company, good for them. Pay your executives whatever and I couldn’t care less. If the company can make almost $1B buy selling ads, and the advertisers are willing to pay it why should I care.

Is this a company I would invest my money, most likely no. That kind of compensation package is insane for Reddit. What are they going to use my investment for, and why didn’t the executives reduce their salaries to achieve it? All the IPO is going to do is basically “back pay” the money the company used to compensate the executives and use the money to do what it should have been used for a decade ago.

  4. It’s a private company, they can pay their CEO five billion dollars for all I care.

  5. That’s what everybody’s problem is, they should have been a ceo

if you’re a nurse or cop or teacher or whatever, just stop helping society and go at it on your own because lord knows this country will not help you help others.

  6. 103 million and all the people who donate time (mods) and content get nothing…

  7. Nobody is reading the details, most of this amount is Reddit’s own stock options. Reddit itself only paid a small fraction of that amount as cash. Executives who are there during IPOs often get a substantial stock bonus as an incentive to make the company do well.

Essentially the deal says you could have a 193 million dollars as long as you don’t screw up and make the stock tank.

  8. I’ll be curious to see how they deal with the moderators once they go public.. I can smell lawsuits by moderators for not being paid..

  9. Imagine getting paid $193 mil just to make BAD decisions…

  10. YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, etc, I never buy anything from their ad’s. Maybe once in a while a new movie gets my attention, everything else is a blur to me.
