Vladimir Putin wants the world to believe that Russia’s economy is doing fine, and that he has the wherewithal to prosecute the war in Ukraine indefinitely.
He’s bluffing. His aggression is costing him dearly, and the West should exploit this vulnerability to the fullest.
Of course it can. The EU alone is 8 times Russia and them you don’t even include the US UK and all the commonwealthers.
The real question is: are we going to outspend him?
I think the money is not the only issue, its the money, the costs per item, and the effective use of that item.
Hypothetical: EU has 5 times the budget for arty shells, but they cost 10 times more to make. Who has more shells?
It gets even more complicated though, as then you need to a new hypothetical: If Russia has 2x more arty shells, but are less accurate, who has more shells.
You can go even deeper, and ask things like, who needs more accurate shells with their doctrines and positions.
I am really dissapointed at how most of the press in the west lacks some basic details in most of their reporting. That and the constant properganda of “Russia is failing lols”.
Its so much more complicated than that..
If you didnt guess I am trying to remain factual here, one of the best channels I have found on the geopolitical side of things is William Spaniel.
I just want to learn more about whats happening without bias and a painful lack of critial thinking.
Nowdays you have to basically use youtube to get more informed info, as the press are so basic its painful.
The defense industry could not be more erect.

Is there someone who doubted the West could outspend Putin.
Can out spend him, but can they out psychopathic meat grinder sacrifices him?

So, if I understand right, the author is betting on a sort of stalemate followed by negotiation.
And saying that the goal of the west should be to support Ukraine enough to hold the current territory, stopping Russia efforts to conquer more.
But, also, it would mean that Ukraine won’t be able to retake territories lost so far .
On the other – it is very cheap to buy western/US politicians.
Perhaps the EU and Ukraine should start buying their own US politicians? GOP MAGA types seem pretty cheap.
