  1. I thought that dude in the middle was whip hubley for some reason

  2. Hey, you know that guy in the middle that no one’s knows or pays attention too? That’s me! GIMME MONEY!!!!!!!

But seriously, considering the amount of money Maverick made I’d likely do the same thing.

  3. Actually a pretty important lawsuit for the next-generation of AI name-image-likeness treatment in future productions.

  4. Don’t think he has a case. Paramount owns his likeness as that specific character and can likely use it how they want to a certain extent.

  5. Does that mean that Tom and Val got paid twice?

One cheque for Maverick. The other for using their photo from Top Gun?

  6. This actually looks very interesting. The article mentions that it is a doctored version of a photo taken during the behind-the-scenes production of the movie. Barry tubb is claiming the doctoring invalidates any previous claims to the photo, allowing him to make a new compensation agreement for said likeness.

This might actually set some precedence for existing photography and likenesses captured during the production of one piece of media being used for another piece of media. A.k.a. the world of AI…

  7. Barry Tubb was the cowboy, he’s the dude in the sunglasses who looks like he’s getting kisses on the temple by Tom.

  8. It’s Marlon Brando and Superman all over again! Will they never learn?

  9. Frivolous lawsuit. Just like patent trolls.

Wants to make money through luck and other people’s hard work. Studio and others spent hundreds of millions to promote movie , take risks and give jobs. Guess this is Job creation in America , more work for lawyers.

  10. The movie wouldn’t have been a success without using his image

  11. Saved you a click: the actor who played “Hollywood” is the actor in question. The above image isn’t the one being discussed and is irrelevant. It is a photo of Maverick’s Top Gun class hanging on the wall on base where Hangman and Coyote find out Goose is Roosters father.

Apparently it was a behind-the-scenes photo that was also altered, so Tubb is arguing this changes, or removes, their ability to use it without compensation to him.

  12. >Tubb is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, and is **demanding a trial by jury.**

Just once I want to see someone demand a trial by combat
