  2. Since this always seems to be ignored by these kinds of articles:

    This can not be sold in the US because it will fail safety requirements. All of these cheap $10k-15k EVs are similar in that regard. That’s why they never seem to show up in the US or Europe unless it’s classified as a NEV or something similar.

    The battery small too, which reduces cost a lot too, and US consumers have overwhelmingly shown their distaste for short range EVs in either case.

    So no, this isn’t some sign of takeover in the US or any other such nonsense. This is just a sign that cars in general can be made much cheaper if your safety requirements aren’t as strict.
