Do you guys think these stats are misleading?
Interested to see what you guys think. Very superficial analysis but still, the numbers support Frenkie’s impact. Gündogan and Pedri play much higher on the pitch than Frenkie, yet Frenkie still matches (and in some cases) exceeds their progressive ability. Complain about Frenkie’s contract all you want, I agree that is a definite issue. However, he’s not a back-pass merchant, clearly.

  1. Great data, can’t believe Barca fans are scapegoating Frenkie.

  2. Deeper players will always get higher “passes into final third” stats

  3. Some context is needed. Because Gundo and Pedri play higher up the pitch, they aren’t expected to put up high numbers for the first graph. They are already in the final third and isn’t responsible for build up (progressive passes) as much. So Frenkie topping that isn’t a surprise. Frenkie is putting good numbers in second chart but he also has the ball most of the time. When you play higher, you get less of the ball, so you have to make most of it. Gundo and Pedri still getting higher expected assists numbers show they are doing that. Even though this is per 90 data, Pedri having played far fewer games that the other two do affect his numbers.

  4. How does Gundo have less expected assists than Frenkie if he actually has 10 assists and 5 goals?

  5. As a diehard Barca fan, I have to say these three are like the holy trinity of our midfield. But who needs comparisons when they all dominate on the pitch? #ForçaBarça

  6. I saw Frenkie do this one touch lob over the entire back line from midfield against Napoli. I might leave this sub permanently, the overwhelming vast majority of fans are seriously braindead and never played soccer in a team before

  7. It’s not about the numbers, Frenkie plays deep down the midfield, has most of the possession. He’s expected to make these passes.

  8. Pedri plays in between the lines, De Jong plays with more space to rotate the attack and progress the ball.

  9. As someone who went out-of-state for undergrad and is now drowning in debt, I would say prioritize financial stability over prestige. Trust me, law school loans are no joke. Save yourself the stress and go to a cheaper school where you can thrive without worrying about mounting debt. #LawyersNeedTherapyToo

  10. frenkie is carrying the whole team atp, since gavi is missing the only one with attitude when we are behind on the score, which is most of the time tbf, selling him for less than 200M is a f gift

  11. Before accusing frenkie that plays deep and that’s why he is making so many passes ask yourselves this:

Can gundogan or pedri play frenkie’s role consistently?

Frenkie is there to help our defenders progress the ball safely, that’s why everyone praises him, he makes the game of his teammates easier.
