Just moved into a place, landlord called to let me know all the great cable channels I’d be getting.
Upon move in I had a fritzbox and wifi, but haven’t been able to connect to the cable.
I have a US TV and attempted to connect cable to TV (with an adaptor to fit the TV) directly from the wall, but no dice.
Assuming I need to have a missing cable box to run in-between wall and TV?

Do you pay for cable TV?
If not maybe it is physically sealed (“verplombt”) because no one is paying for the cable connection.
Else just plug it in to the TV should Work.
Sometimes you have a stb to Show the cable canals and then you can connect the stb to the slow like in th picture.
When I moved into my apartment, the socket wasn’t actually connected to the cable. The cable just ended in front of the apartment (the house was built in ~1973; I am still confused about this)
So, they actually had to drill a hole through the wall to get me connected
BTW, when you have solved this and currently pay via the Nebenkosten for cable TV: Starting in July the landlord no longer can/no longer will “force” you to pay for cable TV via Nebenkosten. Instead you can decide yourself if you want a contract for cable TV or not (see [https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/kabel-fernsehen-mieter-nebenkosten-juli-2024-100.html](https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/kabel-fernsehen-mieter-nebenkosten-juli-2024-100.html) ).
you need an adapter like this: https://www.amazon.de/Adapter-Vergoldet-F-Kupplung-Koax-Stecker-Koax-Kupplung-Set-Koax/dp/B07NBN3HF3/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=3Q5UVGWDEP6E&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.dtuYcwUrZKyGLZDUHH_JinPenT6Wc2tiQ0OrHPXqcnqHqSWQz-ObwsqGEwnuh5uNe6zKXie8N1dFVHWmvYvYJ39gfhtBTKY23jPFGWgnhCascIoUu-CSL-0e5C_WVx3ISmJ7aYv4V2i5KzYQql6DXUxhd-bOXbOr6idBk2b4FJssgJdq0cJ06bMf0nUrKY5HlIHgkHsyAUTieCXGiiXvrg.cD5fQuTeTz2RzMcw6L3r6KWBOLtKXI9FeBqYX0N4tlI&dib_tag=se&keywords=kabel+f+auf+tv&qid=1708722490&s=amazon-devices&sprefix=kabel+f+auf+tv%2Caps%2C103&sr=1-2
your type f cable in the photo is connected to the data port. this is where you connect your cable modem. the tv port is the left one. right one is radio antenna.
You have a US TV? It likely won’t have the required tuner built in (DVB-T2) to receive any of the channels. You’ll need to buy a separate tuner box and plug that into the TV plug from your picture with a COAX cable.
