It’s the weekend! What will you be doing today? Here’s the place to tell us!

  1. Coffee, smoothie, energy gel then a 10k trail race, followed by supermarket for the food shop, then watch Scotland out play England, and finally a takeaway curry and bottle of wine in front of the telly with the wife

  2. Spending all day with a nervous energy in anticipation of Wigan’s World Club Challenge game tonight. Up the Warriors.

  3. It’s new car day! Going to drop the kids off with granny then off to pick it up. Since it’s the other side of York it’s close enough to Scarborough to be worth a trip to try it out, so we’ll probably have a go on the amusements. Maybe Chinese for tea when we get back.

  4. Woooork. Doing a review for one of my team today which should be pretty so will be pleased to sit down for that. Going out this evening as it’s a friend’s birthday so having to get public transport in rather than driving so I’m currently freezing at a bus stop 😭 we’re going to cahoots though which should be super fun so I’m sure it will all be worth it. Do need to make sure I sort out a card and a present during the day though…

  5. Hair cut and then my brothers surprise but postponed due to flooding not so surprise party.

Complete with byob and karaoke. Not particularly looking forward to it but a mutual childhood friend i haven’t seen in a while will be there to make it more bearable

  6. Laundry. Unfortunately, my washing machine is broken so I have to go to the laundrette. This also means my laundry has been backing up for a bit so there’s quite a lot to do. (Who knew a single bloke could accumulate so much dirty clothes? Actually, don’t answer that one…)

But on the plus side, the laundrette is also next door but one to a barbers so I can get my hair chopped off while I wait, something else that I’ve been meaning to do for a while.

Maybe also a trip to the tip. As long as I don’t get them mixed up and wash all my dead electrical stuff and dispose of all my clothes, this might be on the same trip.

Then maybe I might finally get round to taking a few boxes of stuff to my storage locker so they’re not kicking around here any more, but I wouldn’t hold my breath; that’s been on my list of things to do for a while now.

Or, I might just go back to bed.

  7. Our daughter had her last day at her school yesterday. It was actually really emotional! One of her friend’s mum’s text and invited her over today, so my husband and I are going to go for lunch.

  8. Brighton play Everton at home, I’ll be up the Amex.

  9. My quilt has got itself all twisted and lumped up inside the quilt cover, so I’ll be changing the covers completely and do a bit of tidying up as well. Other than that, just the usual walking the dog at some point.

Also got some leftover Chinese takeaway in the fridge so I’m looking forward to that.

  10. i have to work as Saturday is part of my contract sadly

  11. Double shift at work. 7-2 then 5-11.

    Same again tomorrow

    Kill me now

  12. We were supposed to be going on a bike ride, but my 5 year old has tonsillitis & is very sad with it (very unlike him) so we’ll be having cuddles and films on the sofa today and hoping we don’t need to call 111 given how long it takes to get a callback these days.

  13. For many years I have been perfecting my weekend and have come to the conclusion that the best weekends consist of a balanced mix of productive, chilled, social debauchery and nature/cultural activities.

    So:

    – Productive: studying for my MSc, yoga and some house stuff today
    – Chilled: bath and book tonight
    – Nature/culture: walking down the South bank and going to the Tate with a friend tomorrow morning
    – Debauchery: going dancing to a techno after party and seeing loads of friends tomorrow afternoon/evening.

  14. Love this thread! Gym now- and no idea for later

  15. It’s Skipmas day and father Skipmas has already been. Time to fill his sack… Ok the metaphor broke down. I’ll be filling a skip.

  16. So me and the mrs got some very good news recently, then we had a very dark conversation about my drinking.

Long story short, I think I’m addicted. *Anyway* I’ll be doing anything I can to take my mind off alcohol and going to the pub, need to break this vicious cycle somewhere.

Ps: Sorry for the deep answer, I needed to type this out, and god do I feel better for it.

  17. Taking the kids swimming then mega session at my bouldering gym.
    Probably a kebab to celebrate

  18. My original plan was sleeping in but after whatever the downstairs neighbour was doing at 7:30 this morning that’s gone out of the window

  19. Running a coffee morning in my church this morning, first one actually in the church and not the village hall. We’ve got pews so it was always deemed too awkward but I’ve had pew tables made (movable table tops that fit from pew back to pew back) so people can sit and put their drinks and cakes down. Fingers crossed they work.

  20. Taking some cardboard that won’t fit into my blue bin to the local recycling centre (exciting Saturday)

  21. My parents have finally successfully bid for a lovely bungalow about 5 minutes away from me so I’m taking them carpet and furniture shopping. Both are suffering with health issues and I’m so happy they’re going to be comfortable in their new home with myself.and my brother nearby.

  22. Watching more doctor who I hope!
Planning on watching all of it before ncuti gatawa starts his season

  23. My Wife is going to the tip without me! She’s taking some crap from the garden and hoping to come back with a compost bin (she did ask for one from the tip shop for Christmas but I said I can’t be the Husband that buys his Wife a second hand compost bin for Christmas). I do enjoy looking round the tip shop.

I’ll be staying at home with the 1 year old and 2 year old. Had a vasectomy last week so finally feeling like I can run around and play again.

  24. Taking my daughter to be educated in the air speed velocity of European and African swallows.

48 1/2 anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail at cinema today….

  25. I’ve got a cold again, after having a chest infection 3 weeks ago, stupid immune system. So I won’t be doing much but lazing around watching TV and blowing my nose constantly.

  26. Debating whether £50 is too much to see Kaiser Chiefs.

On one hand, it’s a lot of money. On the other, it’s not often they play venues that aren’t arenas or festivals.
