Just got a letter informing me that my rent is going up another 7% in April. By weird coincidence this survey from Living Rent landed in my email this morning. If your rent, private or social landlord, has gone up, give the survey a go, it takes 2 minutes. Cheers

  1. If I may add. For those with questions and issues related to renting and tenancy, you may check r/TenantsInTheUK

  2. I think 12% was the max so guess it could have been worse. But I expect 7% will probably be the minimum it goes up next year too. Private landlords with sitting tenants will want to get to the full market rate as quickly as they legally can.

  3. Be interesting to see what/if my council ups their rent to.. considering they are not undertaking any repair work at all on houses that are lived in (excluding gas and electrical issues) interior roof fell down? Tough… roughcast cracking off the walls? Oh well… tree roots growing under your foundations? Better stop that with some diesel and battery acid..

  4. That would be in line with last year’s inflation rate.
