Antwerp Landscape.Does anyone here knows what are these maple leaf like lake/park? And what’s the story and history behind them?

  1. They are the old forts of the Brialmont-line. In the years leading up to WWI, Antwerp was chosen as “the national redoubt” meaning that in case of invasion, the city was meant to take the brunt of a German attack. There were two lines: 8 forts close to Antwerp and about two dozen in villages further from the city.

    They were all useless since the Germans basically just went around them.

    These days most are parks like the one in Merksem, others are animal refuges like in Brasschaat. In Stabroek they made an activity centre where you can do deathrides, via ferrata, paintball shooting, etc.

  3. These are secret Jewish lairs where they all come together to fix the price of diamonds and gold (they’re old fortresses from before WWI & WWII)
