I was driving out by Croom and a bunch of cones were out due to roadworks. A bus at the other side of the road hit a cone that flew to my side, went under my car that did a little hop into the air and landed.
My insurance company is closed and I’m not sure what to do. I’ve been driving for 10 years and never had an accident.
I’m guessing I can’t claim anything?

Get the reg?
Let me know what time it occurred at. Have dash cam footage from ~ 12:40 near Blarney when a bus Eireann coach heading north was tailgating a van way too closely. Could be the same coach (would have been near Croom around 13:30-13:40 I reckon).
Yes you can claim off your own insurance, I’ve recently had similar bumper damage and I’ve claimed
Yeah you can claim on your own insurance, but I’d try get the bus company to cover it before resorting to your own insurance because you’ll lose your no claims bonus.
Now that’s some bad luck. What is the make, model and year of car?.

You absolutely can. Get onto the bus company and don’t stop until they pay you.
As for claiming on your own insurance, you can do that too, but I would be worried the hit to your no claims and premium might well exceed the repair cost, perhaps even within one year.
Ouch thats a bit shite. Sorry, Im not exactly sure what the best course of action to take is.
If it was bus eireann/city link you can contact them and advise of the issue as they will have CCTV on the coaches and they will be able to go back over it to query your issue
Only claim off your insurance if you have NCB PROTECTION but your premium will go up with or without this
Worth contacting the bus company and if that fails report to Garda but they will only take a statement
The bus will have a camera if you can get the operator
I love the way insurance works here.
“It’s mandatory everyone has it and it will protect you if you ever damage your car or have an accident”
“Ok, I’ve damaged the car, now it’s time to claim right?”
“Good God no! It’s too expensive in the long run, just pay for it yourself”
It’s comical when you really think about it.
A flying bus?
Was it an ice cream cone
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Cones.
The ice cream must have been solid frozen to do that kind of damage
Oddly enough I just drove past you in croom I did think what the fuck happened it. If you remember the bus company ring them see if any locals have cctv. Another route is possibly get onto the council but they will be hard to deal with
Modern cars with the fully integrated wrapped bumber are a real pita when damaged. Huge expense 40 years ago that sort of incident would be mallet and block job.
