Here’s a short answer… Because it’s only been 2 years.
It is hurting. Needs time. Do not give in to ruzzian propaganda.
This is completely ignoring that Russia has decided to pivot their entire economy to a war footing. The market that led to a Russian revival after the collapse of the Soviet Union no longer exists. That economy has been crushed, however Russian resources remain deep.
Time will tell.
That’s not to say they are not exploiting the west, this has always been the case.
“I think sanctions work as a off switch to Russia’s economy”
The west will always be weak for money, that is the god of the west.
Start punishing the corprations whose products are found in Russian weapons and this will resolve itself overnight.
But we know that’s not going to happen.
“It’s not working” only if you expect instant and radical effects. Boring
If someone seriously thought that after only two years Russia would be different than this just cannot reason.
Russia has converted its industry to military, its GDP has been inflated by the so called helicopter-money, funds that cannot sustain their own generation. The only way for them to restore their economy is predating other countries. Their employment figures are the result of people sent to war plus low skilled labour in the military production lines on one hand, and the death toll of employable people on the other.
They have been resorting to spend gold reserves to acquire weapons from Iran. Their economy is bound to fuck it up, of course you can’t see it now as you wished. Also due to reselling via third countries, they’ll be doing everything not to crumble. We have to do it twice as much or we’re facing many folds the consequences. This is the inescapable path that the idiots in the Kremlin put the world into 730 days ago, and prepared for it ten years ago.
Are we now pretending that we don’t know the reasons?
AN-50 crews said what?
But seriously, how ruzzia thinks this is what winning looks like is too much mental gymnastics for me to understand.
I guess it’s time for the weekly SaNcT10Ns aReN”t W0rK1nG!!1!! post
China and India. We have given them so much yet they offer us nothing.
It’s capitalism. All of these states work together to violently control the planet. It’s a joke that politicians in the USA and Russia want to make life hard for each other. They’re literally the same class of people profiting from the exact same system.
Russias economy wasn’t exactly all it could be before…
The West is emptying Putin’s bank account. When it reaches zero then things will get real.
It’s not the west’s weakness that’s in play here, it’s greed.
Sanctions only work on countries that have something to lose like the rich Afrikaners in South Africa. Beyond that they fail. Russians see this is an existential war and will bear the cost of the fight. Russia is a commodity based economy and largely self contained like Brazil.
Answer: Oil exports account for 43% of current GNP!
ruZzia will appear fine until it collapses. This is the propaganda they always spew. Luckily reality doesn’t care. Read the signs, ruZzia is in a slow but accelerating death spiral. We need to have patience and arm Ukraine to speed it up.
Lol it’s hurting that’s a fact. But is it working as plan well no not really. People have to realize the world is changing. The USA time for world bullying to get what it wants is about up. So is Nato whether you like it or not. Putin is a monster no denying that but there are a lot of monsters in this world and not all see them that way. It takes time be sanctions proof but they are on their way.
Because it hasn’t tried hard enough. More!
The West never tried to crush russia’s economy, but to minimise the effect of sanctions on their own economy.
They are printing money and propping it up artificially. Their economy in the long run is absolutely ruined.
Sanctions mostly affect the innocent civilians, like we saw in Iraq. They should be removed entirely.
The West has pulled a lot of punches, and some non-Western nations have jumped on the opportunity for cheap oil, and don’t care about the morals of the country offering it. It’s hobbling along for now.
Since Russia is putting its all into the war effort, it’s likely it will keep going full speed ahead, until such time as it can’t. Big cracks are likely to form all at once rather than gradually, at least on a level we can see. Russia’s likely hurting below the surface, a lot, but it won’t let us see that until such time as it can’t hide it anymore.
Fucking india is why
They’ve transitioned into a war economy so they tightened their belt. The sanctions have to hurt but it’s not like they’d show it anyway as they always have to make themselves feel big and strong. May many a bullet find their collective skulls
