  1. Yes! We beat Sweden again! ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

  2. Hungary at place 17 is wild. Those who took this test are probably from university…

  3. > test takers were self selected

This garbage isn’t worth the electrons used to transmit it.

  4. Aรฏe ame vieri siourpiz tou si us zo phare down ๐Ÿ˜‹ Aie ame convinced zak my Anglich iz pafaict.

  5. Quite suprised that nordic countries are lower than NL But not suprised NL is top. When i was working there for holiday even little kids could hold conversation with me to buy ice cream on the beach i felt there like i could talk with 99% of ppl in English

  6. Should have given the test to some British people as well, to give some baseline. Or did they really not even place?

  7. ON PARLE FRANร‡AIS ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ENGLISH ๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿ›‘ SAUCISSON ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿท BAGUETTE ๐Ÿฅ–๐Ÿฅ–๐Ÿฅ– ET VIN๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿท PIRE QUE LE COSTA RICA ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ท LA RUSSIE ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ ET L’ESPAGNE ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ. UNO DOS TRES VAMOS A LA PLAYA. FRANร‡AIS NUMERO 1 ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅ‡

  8. Why would they put South Africa on this list? It is a English speaking country and it is one of its official languages so of course English is widely spoken.

  9. Wow, Netherlands beats UK at their own language ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘

  10. I find this surprising, Iโ€™ve been to Romania before and the level of English there is terrible IMO.

  11. No way denmark and norway is above sweden. They both have a super heavy accent and you can barely understand them.

  12. The Netherlands 1st? Have you ever heard a dutch person speak english? You really dont want to hear that

  13. Hilarious to see South Africa on 9 ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  14. Surprised Belgium is there, with the lazy walloons not wanting to learn new languages and the Flemish being Protective of the Dutch

  15. Now show me similar lists where we can see how good are Americans and Brits with languages other than english.

  16. Lithuania above Estonia?! (As a Lithuanian, i’m surprised)
I can’t wait for this to turn up in the Baltic states subreddit.

  17. Portugal is on the top 10 merely because of the British expats permanently living there.

  18. I bet my left nut that Cyprus is in the top 15 but its not even on the list

  19. Every dutchman I’ve met spoke perfect english but with that pleasant Dutch accent, extremely professional people!

  20. What I wonder is weather or not this is reason enough for the U.K. or U.S. to claim all those countries as their own much like ruzzia is doing all around its borders…?

  21. Nothing shocking in this statement. English must be waaay more easier to learn for Indoeuropean speakers, especially other Germanic language speakers.

So kudos to Singapore (!), then to Portugal (first Romance country), and Croatia (first Slavic country).

  22. English speaking tourist : “French people are so rude, when I arrived there they all refused to answer me when I spoke english !”

*gesture broadly to the english proficiency index*

  23. I’m Spanish but I think Spain should be last on the list.. ๐Ÿซฃ

  24. Surprised me to see Nigeria so low, considering English is their official language.

  25. The States are not even in the top 50. Damn you Mew Orleans!!

  26. Quick question. Aren’t Singapore, South Africa, and Kenya English speaking countries? I know that there are other languages in those countries (Chinese, Swazi, Swahili). But English is so prevalent that they are considered native speakers, no?

  27. Germany in top 10 are u kidding me? ๐Ÿคฃ

  28. In not sure if South Africa should be counted here. Itโ€™s not entirely fair towards other countries in the ranking.

  29. As a Slovenian, I am offended. And so are all the other 5 people living there…

  30. It doesnโ€™t matter if youโ€™re not first as long as youโ€™re above France

  31. wait are you saying europeans are best at learning indo-european languages? crazy stuff

  32. The Dutch have somewhat decent grammar, but their accent….
