Announce Zidane day 3
Yesterday Klaus Augenthaler came to the Bayern Museum and talked about what this team needs. He spoke about the mentality of our players and that there are only 2 or 3 who currently have the right mindset for Bayern. That he’d even bench someone for the next game if they throw a tantrum and refuse to shake hands with the bench after being subbed off. That we need more direct play, more crosses, more shots, and not this neverending “playing the ball back around”. He might not have the recent trainer experience but he sure knows exactly where our problems lie and how a Bayern team has to behave.
Some thoughts on yesterdays game. Overall it was a fair result against a good opponent – remember that we lost 0:3 to them at the beginning of the season.
Both teams could have scored more, but we were luckier in the end. It is nice that things went in our favor after some unfortunate games.
Great game by Pavlovic especially – both with the ball and against it. He was our most important midfielder and he has made a strong case for himself to be locked into our starting 11. Very happy for him!
Musiala failed some dribblings but at the same time it felt like he was the most dangerous of our players, capable of creating chances out of nothing. He received the ball several times in midfield, turned quickly and sprinted towards RBs goal. In those moments he looked world class. He still needs to work on his decision making though.
Haralds brace was great, obviously, but he could have easily scored a hattrick, had he been more clinical.
Some of our praise should go to Rapha as well, whose skillset is the opposite of Davies’: good technique, passing and crossing – somewhat slow though. Hope this competition causes Davies to step up and show his own skillset consistently. We’ll have to see which profile suits our game better.
Our whole defense and Müller showed solid performances too. Dier turned out to be an important winter addition.
I wasn’t too fond of Goretzka. It was not a terrible game but then again he was outshone by Pavlo, who did everything better. Goretzka doesn’t make himself available enough in buildup, is not press resistant, never looks comfortable on the ball and still has a habit of going invisible. However, there were some important contributions against the ball by him.
Our worst player (again) was Sané. Some problems with him for a long time now: slowing the game down, bad decision making and losing the ball by bad dribblings or by bad passing. Once again he felt useless apart from that one time he tracked back well into our own box. One has to wonder what it takes for TT to stop starting Sané and/or how Sané returns to the world class player he was at the start of the season.
Late winners really the sweetest thing in this sport. Still gassed abt yday and haven’t been this gassed since tel’s winner against gladbach
I wonder how 4-3-3 would work with kimmich-musiala-pavlo trio
>How tense is the relationship with the team?
>Tuchel: “I can’t imagine that an Aleksandar Pavlović will be happy or relieved that I’m leaving at the end of the season. Or a Raphaël Guerreiro, Minjae Kim or Manuel Neuer. I would be very, very surprised if I were the backpack they were carrying around. The main reason for the decision was actually to avoid such a lurching course. That’s how everything is now clear. Whether we like it or dislike it, we will no longer have to solve the mystery as to whether it was a backpack [the players were carrying]”
