USA and EU are better to prepare ammunition for themselves if they aren’t gonna provide Ukraine with enough really modern weapons and training to defeat Russia and don’t perform real actions to destroy Putin and his stinking heap of shit Ruzzia, as they did with Soviet Union.
True… but for good reason.
The USA and Europe would/could not envision getting into an “artillery war” involving large amounts of troops in trenches, something not seen since WWI.
Air power prevents that.
Hopefully that changes going forward, and meanwhile they should really be willing to buy more outside their own countries.
I think it might be possible to procure shells from various places around the globe to fill a part of the gap until the new facilities being built are at full speed. Anyone with free capacity at the moment would be crazy not to be producing more, the high price will make sure that political problems in many countries can be solved.
How the hell are we supposed to defend ourselves from China and their Allies when we can’t even supply Ukraine if they (China) decide to get more brazen and go all out war? This whole war really outlines the weaknesses in our capacity. I certainly know we should and could be doing better. I could go on but this is concerning
This is true, though by the end of 2024 the combined production of the US, UK and EU should be something like 3 million rounds of 155mm plus some number of smaller calibres. That might not all go to Ukraine unfortunately, but it’s still 8k rounds a day of potential
I think NAMMO has signaled clearly that they can ramp up significantly if they get guarantees and/or long term contracts.
Maybe we should just order some on AliExpres
Alright then, America. Let’s ramp it up! We have a world to save.
This isnt just a “Ukraine is using a lot” thing.
This is a security concern.
Then Ukraine needs to move away from the old style of war the Russians favour of shelling and enemy into oblivion. I instead focussing more on increasing their partisan warfare. Make it so any Russian military within Ukraine cannot function.
What can nato give then? Shit loads of drons is the answer.
Rheinmettal is building new factories, including one I Ukraine! They have also purchased a Spanish ammo company to supplement their own. I remember reading somewhere that BAE have added another production line to one of their existing factories. Also Egypt is supplying 122/152mm ammo!
This is bullshit what the west is doing to Ukraine. All they have to do is draw down their current stock of ammo while we are waiting for production capacity to build up.
Just read in Swedish news that a large 155mm manufacturer here in Sweden has gone over to 24/7 production and has hired an additional 40 staff.
This should not be a problem for years, the US still has several millions of cluster shells in storage that could be sent to Ukraine.
Time for US and the rest of the west to go into war mode
So apparently North Korea can beat both EU and USA
Interesting
When will people learn. Never get in a land war in Asia.
Two years. Two years and the west’s claimed “support to all ends” cannot produce enough artillery shells, the single most basic component of modern war.
russia’s demand for ammunition on the front is being supplied by *fucking nork ammo*
this pov is running pretty close to “Rolls Royce cannot keep up production with Lada”
