This is so wrong. Everyone in finland would offer food or ATLEAST coffee when you visit someone.
Coffee at least is always a must, sometimes maybe some cookies or something as well
When this first started circulating there was a lot of talks about this. One thing that this is lacking is the premise of the question. It’s VERY dependent on the situation, and what people consider “offering food”. For me personally, it would mean an actual meal, not snacks or something to go with coffee.
Offering drinks definitely doesn’t mean the same as offering food.
They do it in the country side outside of the cities. Coffee, pulla, karjalanpiirakka, sweet buns…whatever is on hand.
I offer something to eat and drink to everyone who comes through the door, including visitors, repairmen, cleaners and all the rest. I also have a goodie box for dogs.
Never been not offered a snack with coffe/tea while being a guest in Finland. Depending on the time, Karjalanpiirakat, bread, pulla, bisquits etc.
Kahvia?
You obviously are in the internet, not in IRL.
Depending on the friendship/acquintance you’ll always get coffee in Finland.
If it said “Will you be offered a meal” it might be more accurate… but pullakahvi is still food.
HAH! I remember visiting relatives and my mom had to tell me to pace myself with EVERY meal.
Well I only invite my friends etc to my home and offer them atleast coffee/tea.
