  1. It’s not even a wheat. It’s a corn. And it was in transit through Poland.

Like, can we please stop wasting food in order to get some preferential treatment to produce food?

  2. Solution is being worked on. Farmers, please, don’t make it worse…

  3. With friends like these…

EDIT: holy fuck the usual few dozen polish redditors are swarming the thread

  4. seems we got our personal houthis across the border, great

  5. I’m not an expert in this kind of international trade – does cusomer pay in advance?

So is Ukraine losing money from this or someone else?

  6. These must be real Putinist polish/russian agents.
This is damaging someone else’s property and I can only assume they’ve been arrested by the Polish police and will have to pay for the damages.

  7. As someone who is very critical of this recently, this seems very suspicious. Is it really Polish farmers doing this or Kremlin now?

Seems like the perfect way to cause division

  8. Dear Poles, is this really a democratic way to solve problems?

  9. How the hell is this allowed to continue to happen? Is Poland even able to enforce laws and prevent sabotage like this? Everyone responsible needs to be found out and tried in court appropriately. This is a disgrace.

  10. I know for a fact that Poland has a Police Force because I had 2 interactions with them. Once I was ticked for crossing a one lane street with no cars in sight in Krakow. Another time a van just rolled next to me next to the train station and I was pulled inside and searched because “they were looking for a drug dealer and I looked suspicious”. But when these farmers destroy private property the Police is nowhere to be found.

  11. Yes, they just got some billions from the e.u., 137, for being such nice guys and SO helpful to europe…

  12. quite surprising that among all groups, it’s the farmers who are disrespecting/wasting food lmao

  13. It happened at night near Bydgoszcz, in the northern-central part of Poland. As a Polish person, I would call this a despicable criminal act. There are more and more such provocations (usually done by unknown perps at night), and they have horrible effects on Polish-Ukrainian relations, Polish internal affairs, and the perception of Poland in the European Union.

Translation of the article (using ChatGPT 4):

*The police in Bydgoszcz are determining who and why spilled corn onto the railway tracks. The incident occurred at night in Kotomierz, near Bydgoszcz. Someone opened eight wagons of a train parked on a siding. Currently, the area is secured by railway security officers. Earlier, representatives of local authorities and farmers, who took samples of the corn, were present.*

*”It’s true, someone took some small samples for testing,” confirms one of the farmers present at the scene. “An accredited laboratory will assess the quality in terms of the content of mycotoxins, but also pesticides (…). There are claims that grain imported from Ukraine does not meet the parameters. Unfortunately, we know there are insufficient controls at the border. And all this leads to unfair competition in the grain trade. Whether it is corn from Ukraine – that should be asked of the operator – the carrier, however, someone took a picture of the consignment note claiming it is Ukrainian goods, but we do not have certain information.”*

*”At the moment, the police are conducting activities. The Railway Security Service was the first on the scene and secured the area,” says Sebastian Horodecki, deputy mayor of the Dobrcz commune. “It is unlikely that the grain spilled out by itself, given that eight wagons are open. It is difficult for me to say at this moment whether it is corn from Ukraine. No one provides such information.”*

*The issue is commented on by agricultural activist Wojciech Mojzesowicz. In his opinion, the determination of farmers is huge.*

*”The situation is very bad. Someone is lying here,” believes Mojzesowicz. “The Prime Minister of Ukraine said that neither grain, corn, nor rapeseed are being imported to us. So, clearly, the situation shows that they are being imported. There is such twisting, such lying in this topic. If I were there and had the opportunity, I would also spill this corn. How long can discussions last, and how long can negotiations take? Many young, very ambitious, and smart farmers are getting involved. They know what they are fighting for. They know that this economic account and these prices will cause many farms to go bankrupt. That’s why they fight, they have the right to,” says Mojzesowicz.*

*Let’s recall that the police are handling the case of the grain spilled in Kotomierz.*

  14. This is terrorism that tries to create supply issues in order to drive up prices. These farmers need to be penalized for anticompetitive behaviour.

  15. The whole “get the grain out of Ukraine” project was talked about as a benefit for Ukraine and for AFRICAN countries that depend on it to feed their populations. Why is this grain hitting the Polish market?

That photo is a disgrace but of course Polish farmers will be upset if the price crashes. They will immediately lose money. The Polish importers should be advised that they need to get it to the nearest port so it can get on its way by ship to Ethiopia, Sudan etc where it is badly needed.

No-one should be allowed to sell it in Poland, or anywhere else where it will crash the price of *locally-produced* grain.

  16. To be honest, I don’t think this is a protest. These people are probably russian agents disguised as farmers.

  17. You should think that after more than a dozen of these cases, security personnel/ police would be observing those trains in order to find the culprits

That’s like the most basic thing that comes to mind if it keeps happening – set a camera up , put people close by and when someone gets into view and tries to commit the crime, apprehend him

  18. How much in Euros is the commercial value of 160 tons of Ukrainian grain?

  19. “In Poland at the **Kotomezh** **railway** **station**, on the night of Sunday, 25 February, unknown persons opened eight gondola cars and scattered Ukrainian grain. This was reported in the Telegram-channel of the Ministry of recovery.”

  20. Criminals. Traitors and Terrorist.

This is an incredible waste of food in a time where people go hungry.

  21. Why are Polish farmers going after grain transit and not after those companies that are buying them for quick profit?

Edit: or demanding from government to better control grain transit,so it isn’t sold in Poland.

  22. is Poland 4th world country where law doesn’t work and only angry groups of people rules? is it Mad Max world?

  23. This is a crime against humanity. Whoever did this should be brought to the hague.

  24. Good, we need our farmers to be abke to sell their produce. Giant Ukrainian companies with German and French capital can go suck a fat one.

  25. Well. It’s pretty much our government’s fault. If they tried to resolve the problem instead of just hoping for it to die out on itself it probably wouldn’t have got that bad.

I don’t support such behaviour, but frankly, I’m not surprised at all. Imagine your profession suddenly becomes totally unproffitable because your government opens the market to way cheaper competition from abroad with no warning and ignores your worries. If you have some surplus money, you may switch to some other profession. If you don’t, you go bankrupt.

I just hope they won’t try solving it by force, because it may get much worse very quickly. About 8-9% of Poles work in agricultire – an angry mob of even half this size may cause lots of damage.

  26. Wasting this amount of food should be considered a crime against humanity. It could be a russian sabotage or some desperate and stupid farmers

  27. Whole this thing looks sus as fuck.

Protests make sense but it’s already out of control.
I’m afraid that as a nation, we have once again allowed ourselves to be manipulated by huylo. Kurwa.
