RTO doesn’t improve company value, but does make employees miserable: Study

  1. Maybe, maybe not but your employer chooses where your job is located and you choose to work for the employer.

    You don’t get to choose the job location, that is chosen by the employer.

    Freakanomics even pointed out people were [more sociable](https://freakonomics.com/podcast/the-unintended-consequences-of-working-from-home/) working from home.

    The reason companies want RTO is simple: control and office costs. They can’t easily control employees who are remote, and if they keep people remote they have to eat the cost of offices.

    Neither is the fault of workers. We shouldn’t have to pay for your lack of hindsight.

  3. I thought that was the point. To get people to quit, particularly the disabled and parents/caregivers.

  4. Miserable employees are easier to control. It’s also a lot harder to interview for a better job if you are in an office.
