From what I can glean from Wikipedia, the Dutch vote against the treaty is down to the following: the NATO is in favour of nuclear weapons, because they have them and others don’t. The public in most NATO-countries is against nuclear weapons. So most NATO-countries decided to just ignore the treaty to not piss off anyone. Then our parliament adopted a motion that compelled the government to take an active role in negotiating this treaty.
So the government just said: Fine, but you won’t like it.
We probably voted against because this vote makes zero sense in the first place. My 11-year old nephew would come up with something like this
