  1. He’s the clubs owner, and this title is moronic. I doubt “Sportzhighlights” would be clued in to how many players any balancing of books would involve even if Ratcliffe were involved to such an intricate level.

He’s explicitly said his plan is to put who he sees as the best people in the right positions and seek to create an environment where they can challenge each other/hold each other to account but also work as a team. And those people will be football people. That’s been done in some of the appointments, yet those people are on gardening leave so a lot of the follow up planning would occur.

Then those people can implement change and oversee their new directorates, and final decisions can eminent upwards to him when needed.

And that’s because…he’s an owner. Granted a lot of them get their noses involved in stuff they shouldn’t, but if you wanted to have such an oversized say in the club’s business, you don’t spend your first days going out and getting a new CEO, Director of Football and scouting a new head of recruitment.

This article is delusional, especially as it claims he’s out there scouting Ross fucking Barkley.

  2. Fascinating and exclusive insight! Go on, sportzhighlights…

  3. Sell ten to get back what? Maybe half of what was spent on the two in the picture?

  4. isnt he only a minority owner? The glazers still has the final say on everything right

  5. Similar problems to Chowsay. Average or over the hill players on colossal wages. Brexit Jim has got his work cut out.

  6. **Players with contracts expiring summer 2024:**
    Shoretire (5k pw), Heaton (45k), Amrabat (65k), Evans (65k), Martial (250k).

None of these players should get renewed, so that’s about **£22m** per year of reduced salary cost from July 2024.

**Players with contracts expiring summer 2025:**
    Hannibal (unknown), Kambwala (7.5k), Diallo (30k), Greenwood (50k), McTominay (60k), van de Beek (90k), Wan-Bissaka (90k), Lindelöf (120k), Eriksen (150k), Maguire (190k), Varane (340k).

I don’t think any of these players will get renewed either, and it’s hard to see any of them being sold unless they want to get more minutes on the field and get an exciting opportunity somewhere. So if all of them sit out their contracts, that’s about **£59m** of salaries to be paid (from July 2024).

**Then there’s expiring contracts of 2026:**
    Malacia (75k), Sancho (195k), Fernandes (240k), Casemiro (350k).

Doubt any of the want to be sold/get released, so they will probably sit out their contracts at best. This means another approximately **£90m** of salaries to be paid (from July 2024).

I could go on with contracts expiring in 2027+2028, but I don’t bother. They will have trouble getting rid of players on such nice contracts unless something amazing happens and they get saved by someone.

    Good luck, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

  7. It’s all easier said than done.

The reason we’re in this shit rn is ETH sold a bunch of players and the board were too incompetent to replace them with a decent alternative.

It left us very thin at the start of this season, and now having a “clear out” will do more damage.

Sell the priciest ones, then get your replacements and then sell the rest.

  8. He seems like a strange bloke. Anyone would think he’s the new manager the way he’s talking. United need a massive clear out, but then would you trust ETH with the rebuild? According to news reports, United are edging closer and closer to that FFP trap. So if they do make 200-300m on player sales they need a top manager to ensure the money isn’t wasted.

  9. Wanting to sell them doesn’t equate selling them. They might get rid of them, but a lot of them will more likely leave on a free.

  10. Seems like he’s making the same mistake as Boehly. Trying to basically reset everything and start from scratch.

  11. Is Rattcliffe Director of Football? What does his opinion matter here? It’s crazy to have an executive making football decisions.

  12. if he wants to sell 10 united stars he’ll have to buy them first coz we’ve got none at the moment

  13. So many people taking a headline from Sportz Highlights seriously, good grief

  14. WHERE the fuck is Mason Mount 😀

So many United players are just there for the obscene wages.

Mount, Casemiro, Antony, Varane, Sancho. All just taking the piss.

Chelsea have issues, doesn’t mean I can’t laugh at United’s bigger issues.

  15. Probably the type of clear out that’s needed, but do they actually have 10 players they *can* sell? Plus, that would necessitate the kind of buying spree that typically leads to growing pains. Buckle up, United supporters, the interesting times are far from over.

  16. Mount should always have gone to Liverpool. Straight after Mac Allister, they were in talks but he turned down 150k a week for 300k. Absolute shambles.

  17. Ratcliffe starting United’s Boehly era… just in time for Klopp leaving. Looks like it’s a two-team league for the next couple of years.

  18. And where/how would he find 10 stars to sell in current Man U?

  19. I think he’s doing that cause the manutd squad needs the youth that can adapt the philosophy of the coach.
We dont need players that feel the are greater than the club.

  20. Antony, Martial, Casemiro, Eriksen, Maguire, Mctominay, Sancho.

  21. Sancho – 30m (huge loss on FFP)

Antony – 30m (huge loss on FFP)

The above 2 are the most obvious choice, which doesn’t make any sense though from FFP perspectives. We are selling to improve our FFP, not worsen it

Rashford – 70m (huge gain on FFP)

Greenwood – 50m (huge gain on FFP)

Depends whether we still have faith on these 2 players, or better we just let them go and sell for good profit. As academy players any sell on these 2 player would represent huge gain on FFP.

    Other choice:

Casemiro, Varane – sure they would ease our wage bill abit. But we will need to sell them for a price but not for free. Saudi is probably the only place who could paid for their wage, lets see.

Maguire, Mctominay, AWB, Lindelof – they are good for backup roles, but with any decent fees we should sell, or else they might have to stay

Pellistri, Mejbri, Alvaro – again we could sell any academy players for good profit. But we don’t really want to sell our talented youngster and see them flourish elsewhere.

VDB – just sell him, he is our deadwood. But I doubt we would gain anything from FFP perspective.
