Correction, tried to commit suicide but just made his situation worse! – if you note he is still breathing, he blew a tidy hole under his chin, through the face (mostly sinus cavity, non fatal) and through his brain and the bullet still has a pretty much all is power as it departed through the tidy new hole in his skull. This is known as a through and through, from the lack of blood I reckon he missed any vital arteries, possibly cauterized some smaller ones. Really you want the bullet to dump all its energy within the body to do maximum damage, he literally did the opposite, he’s successfully prolonged his suffering and probably prevented him self from another attempt.

    I genuinely hope wild animals eat deeply from his wounds while he is still conscious.

  21. Just hope Ukraine is able to support their veterans with psychological aid post war. Because I can’t imagine seeing this sort of drama every day is healthy.

    In past wars, snipers saw their targets often just briefly, as silouettes on the horizon. Most US WWII combat vets never came face to face with their adversary. Now, the modern indirect sniper / drone pilot sees these dramas play out routinely.

    Just listened to the [recent War on the Rocks podcast](https://warontherocks.com/2024/02/the-russo-ukrainian-war-at-two/) with Michael Kofman, the most objective Western voice on the conflict. Even he was surprised that Russian voluntary recruitment efforts remained fairly successful. Essentially, Russia is clearing its streets of otherwise near hopeless alcoholics and depressives, and sending them to the front. With the ethnic minorities, there’s more non-voluntary conscription. Russian elites don’t care about the losses, as they’re inhumane monsters. And Ukraine’s military is in essence, solving Russia’s social problems by killing them.

    It’s just a crazy situation. The Ukrainian military runs older, median age around 40, as Ukraine’s political leadership recognizes their demographic crisis and hasn’t conscripted the 20 somethings that will parent future generations. But the drone pilots are doubtless younger, people who’ve been handling game controllers since childhood. And 20 somethings who didn’t ask for this life are being tasked with killing all those who Russian elites considered disposable.

  30. This would have been insane in 2022. Now I literally see a wounded russia killing themselves atleast once a week. It’s picked up in the last 6 months alot…
