    Its impressive actually. She not only alienated a huge group of people but the specific age demographic she alienated is the same demographic that drove the majority of her success (those born in the 90s and 00s).

  11. My father isn’t particularly trans friendly. He’s 74 and scowls when it pops up in the news, but he moves on and lives his life.

    But… I find the obsession that people like her and Graham Linehan seem to have to be really destructive and unnatural. It goes way beyond my father’s position of I don’t like it, but it’s none of my business.

    It’s not normal and needs to be studied.

  15. There is a podcast that gives JK rowlings perspective called ‘The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling’

    Essentially she views as a feminist she is protecting women and others are being silenced so she has to speak up.

    At the same time she is a bit of hypocrite, saying don’t trust people that say they are doing something for the children, and then consistently saying she is doing it for the children. Also saying she doesn’t like doing it but then posting tweets that are clearly trolling to get people riled up.

  26. I mean most biological women I know agree with her. I don’t know why people act like the separation of statistical information between mtf trans women and biological women shouldn’t be reported separately. It makes sense for data collection and research.

  27. I will never get over the fact that a core element of why death eaters are evil in her books is because they refuse to accept muggle born witches and wizards, to the point of saying they *stole* their magic from a *real* magical person.

    It’s almost like a perfect allegory for prejudice against transgender people. It perfectly illustrates how harmful and unnecessary that kind of gatekeeping is – the magical world is a much kinder, more interesting place when it includes muggle born witches like Hermione. There is enough magic for everyone.

    Kind of like we can have a beautiful inclusive rainbow of gender that harms no one, or be gatekeeping assholes while creating a suffocating atmosphere of conformity and control.

    The irony is so heavy.

  32. I haven’t read the article- If it was an individual with a set of cock and balls then it was a man that committed the crime and he should be status’d as a man in crime statistics. Also treated as a man in terms of imprisonment.

    Just like in the doctors office, the justice system needs to treat you for what you are not what you say you are.

    Otherwise we’d never have a guilty person again, after all, they all identify as “Not guilty”

    To those against this, I would remind you that this is not yet a settled issue in society and the points she brings up must be addressed at some point regardless of whatever conclusion we as people will draw out of the issue.
