Irish account, Revolut card…. Went to take out €20 and they wanted to charge me €23.95 at the ATM for the withdrawal. Didn’t do anything strange and wasn’t trying to convert or anything like that…. Never hit cancel as quick in my life. Went to another ATM nearby (not a brinks one) and didn’t pay any fees. Trying to fleece me for 20% is an absolute joke. Rip off!

Shop around.
We need to stop other people falling into this trap.
What you should do, OP, is go back at night with a JCB and remove that atm.
Its the only decent thing to do.
They charge this for transactions for all non Irish issued cards. Revolut’s BIN even though it has an Irish IBAN still shows as being issued in Lithuania IIRC. I get charged nothing when using my PTSB card in their machines.
I think the bigger question is why one needs to take cash out nowadays.
What’s an ATM?
Husband was charged €4.80 withdrawing from an AIB atm recently either this revolt card. It’s ridiculous
Scumbags.
Lol, banks having shame, get real.
Well bank of Ireland only made 1.9Billion profit last year, things are tough!
If banks had any shame they wouldn’t be banks.
3.95 and not 23.95 ..it happened to me few days ago when i needed 20 withdrawal
the irish banks have largely washed their hands of atm banking and sold the business to scumbags like these.
Most ATMs have a charge on foreign card withdrawals, and Revolut goes through Lithuania. But yeah, having worked for them right as they pulled out of the country a few years ago, they’re pure scum. We’d a lad from the HQ in the States over when Greece had that massive crash, the fucking horn on him over how much they made that weekend was shocking. The entire country panicking and this bollocks with dollar signs in his eyes giggling
Possible suggestion for people that have these ATMs nearby- Print out signs letting people know about the charge and with a map to the next closest ATM
Had to pay €8 to take cash out of an atm in canaries.
Its normal, just dont pay it… Simples
Not only them – a lot of the commercial ATM’s have ways of adding charges. It’s their whole business model. Sometimes they charge you even when you don’t take any money out!

This looks like a 3rd.party atm, not a bank one. Private company making money.
