  1. Things could definitely get messier. Worst case scenario would be Russia, Iran, and China being the axis powers for World War III, but let’s hope that it won’t come to that

  2. If you are putting French troops in ukraine, you might as well try to put French troops in russia. The moment the war gets fought on Russian soil, is the moment they stop…well there is another moment but even suggesting that is bad.

    Put western troops in the west of Ukraine so we can learn from them while we support them by taking some of the responsibility of protecting the border against Belarus.

    That’s the French military there. I’m really not sure how much of a difference they would make. Airpower would be interesting but Russia has a ton of SAM’s.

    Just for comparison’s sake, the US has 3493 tanks, 1196 self propelled guns and another 950 towed guns on active duty. The US is the problem here. Europe was counting on the US and Trump/MAGA is undermining that.

  15. A part of me feels like the Russian army wouldn’t survive long if it goes against a well trained and equipped fighting force like France. Liberating Ukraine could be a possibility. But I can’t imagine Putin simply saying oh well I guess that’s that. Russia is a nuclear power under a mad man. I’m afraid it doesn’t end until Putin wants it to, or until he simply drops dead.

    If France puts troops on the ground in Ukraine, as long as Orange Hitler isn’t president…

    If any of the French troops get attacked by Russia, I’m pretty sure that would trigger an article of the NATO Alliance, and force everyone else to get involved.

    This is the real genius behind the strategy IMHO.

    The US has not even once mentioned helping Ukraine, ever. Idc if you sent a couple trillion dollars of weapons… Helping, defending, or just plain caring about their sovereignty, are not represented by sending stuff from afar.

  33. NATO will either have to face Russia in Ukraine soon, or the rest of Europe later.

  34. Let’s not underestimate the fact that it is better to fight the war when it’s not on your doorstep. And if it can be won in Ukraine, then any measure should be considered. Even if it means deploying NATOs troops there.

    There is no longer a question if russia would attack NATO. It’s just a matter of time. So, rulling out the deployment of troops in another country’s territory can not be ruled out.

  36. it is way more easyer to decide that for france than for others. sending the foreign legion will not have the same bad impact as regular troops.
    Anyway france should be aware, if it ends bad its unlikely that help would arrive fast if someone will help.
