  1. That makes no sense. They still made a conscious decision to air it.

  2. people have talking about her having dementia/aphasia for a long time now. theres no way they didnt have an inkling of an idea that she was losing it.

  3. Sure, Jan. They would have milked it for publicity, but nice try.

  4. “We didn’t know she had dementia, we just thought she was an alcoholic hag drinking herself to death. Nothing wrong with that.”

  5. I’m sure her forcing her driver to drive around the same block three times to buy her vape pen because “it’s not the right store” didn’t give them any hints that something was seriously wrong. Mind you this incident happened 3 years ago.

  6. As someone with a mom who has dementia, I am grateful for this doc. So many people when you tell them your mom has dementia immediately say in pity “ohh does she remember who you are?” There is so much more to dementia that happens before they forget the people around them. My mom has had it for 13 years. I wish I would have known signs beyond the memory loss. These gradual changes to their personalities happen over decades. They have this for years before anyone noticed major signs. There are so many things that happened in this doc that I hope helps families to question behavior and changes sooner and helps get help for the afflicted and acceptance and understanding for the families and those that care.

To see how her manager, publicist etc react is clear they have no clue about dementia. And that was hard to watch. It was also so worrisome that she was alone in that apartment with no food, no one there 24/7 so she didn’t hurt herself. She can’t walk well and having those steps is so dangerous. I’m glad she is in a facility where she can be kept safe. This disease sucks!

  7. I saw one clip of her and it was obvious. How could they not have known.

  8. I wouldn’t wish dementia on anyone, but I really don’t have any problems with people making money off of Wendy Williams’s misfortunes. It’s fairly karmic.

  9. But they could obviously tell something was wrong, ever since she fainted the first time.

  10. Are we really mad about the doc? This woman is an asshole who has exposed so many people. She deserves to have her personal life exposed as well.

  11. It is wernicke-korsakoff syndrome and they are just calling it dementia

  12. I have to say, the media is getting disgusting. I mean they are more thirsty than the second rate background reality TV stars who will do anything to be famous. These media outlets are giving the same vibe. FYI to reporters if you’re doing a story about nobody doing nothing, we don’t need it to be in print.

  13. There is a documentary on Beach Boy Brian Wilson called “Long Promised Road” that came out a few years ago that basically showcased what might have been Brian showing early signs of dementia. The documentary never discusses it and it’s possible it was hidden from the filmmakers however anyone who has been paying attention would recognize things he was doing that didn’t make sense. For example, him not remembering his brother’s solo album or former Beach Boys manager Jack Riley death.

It wasn’t until earlier this month it was officially announced. Seeing him perform on his last tour was sad. He looked completely lost.

Point being I think documentarians might not always have their subject’s best interest in mind.

  14. Serious question: does dementia make you an asshole?

Or is the asshole just free to come out unchecked?

  15. She was obsessed with gay men. Like relentlessly obsessed. I always wondered if one of her early relationships was with a man who later came out as gay or her father came out later in life as gay. Or she was rejected by a guy who was gay and never got over it.

I just found the constant obsession over gay men to be really troubling. Like somethings wrong with this woman.

  16. Her niece was on a bunch of morning shows last week saying WW was an executive producer and wanted to tell her story. I think her family is exploiting her. They don’t even know she’s got dementia?

  17. You know on one hand they definitely knew something was wrong with her, either that or they are truly stupid.

But at the same time she’s profited off others hardships for years and years so I suppose it’s karma coming full circle. Tragic that she didn’t have anyone around her more willing and able to step in and help her earlier.

  18. She had a MASSIVE cocaine problem, all that money meant she could afford to abuse it, I think this may have lead to her decline.

  19. Did they not have eyes? Clearly something was off…even if they didn’t know what it was..she didn’t seem all the way there.

  20. The entire thing from the first episode everyone keeps commenting how she was not the same… They chose to continue rolling and exploit her.

  21. Oh for fucks sake. She was an alcoholic and they didn’t see it. They thought she was just Wendy being Wendy. There are a lot of “functional” addicts especially in Hollywood. Move the fuck on.

Would they have aired it if they knew or thought she really had dementia? Maybe. Less likely than if they just thought she was a drunk… everyone thinks dementia hits super fast and it’s overnight. It’s not. It took my grandma 12 years slowly to go off the deep end. It’s show business, they’re doing their jobs.

  22. Gimme a feckin break. Ever’body knew. Ever’body knew. This is stupid, pretending to be surprised

  23. Not buying it… she acted like she had dementia for the last like.. 30 years lol
