It was originally Convent Garden as in the garden of the Abbey and Convent. Whether it is a deliberate reference or a mistake I have no idea

Love these books too, but they’re littered with spelling mistakes.
I liked the first couple, but I forget in which one, he had very biased views of Americans in there that just turned me off, so I closed them and never read another.
