  1. 2% is not enough. Why are Western European countries still not seeing Russia is evil and literally invading us?

What the hell happened to Western Europe to become complacent and decadent? Haven’t they learned? Twice?

Putin murders people who oppose him. He’s a literal Nazi. If Germany, of all countries, wants to fight Nazism, they should fight Putin in every way they can.

    But they don’t.

  2. And this is how you pollute data and make countries like Belgium look like theyre doing their part

  3. Great job guys. Can you blast this all over social media now so the Trumptards can’t use it against you in the coming election?! We’re gonna need some help. Everyone work together.

  4. After so many years of neglect, 2% will not be enough to get them anywhere near ready or capable.

  5. Taking averages is a misleading way to paint the picture… the goal is for every NATO member state to contribute 2%. In the EU, some Baltic countries contribute 3-4%, while the likes of Luxembourg contribute below 1%

We’re not out of the woods yet

  6. It looks like europe is banking on Donnie coming back…

  7. On average..

We have a joke about using mean value in such cases:

” I’m eating cabbage, my friend is eating schabowy ( pork cho) – on average we’re eating gołąbki”.

  8. I don’t get you people that find this to be a positive thing.

Its not positive when groups of people start to invest in items that are used to murder other people.

  9. Why do we see a sharper increase in 2020? Is it beacuse the economy recessed and the defence expenditure stayed constant?

  10. Meanwhile Canada cut its overall military budget this year. 🙁

  11. This is average not individual. Countries that aren’t hitting their target need to do better still.

  12. It will increase further because Russia is now on war footing spending one third of its budget on military. Europeans maybe 10 percent of the budget and it needs to be more but one must cut on other spendings like pensions but there will be hard distribution battles within society and the question is, will western societies or specifically the middle class (the rich won’t contribute either and for the poor life is hard already) relinquish easily some of their prosperity or standard of living?

  13. Shouldn’t defense spending be based on the risk or threats a country anticipates rather than a magic number like 2%? If you feel your country is going to be invaded, shouldn’t you spend 5, 10, 20, 30% of your gdp on defense? Imagine spending only 2% in face of an invasion and expecting someone else to pay or fight for you!

It’s almost like a game of how much one can mooch off others!
