…i said it a million times before, and i will say it again.
As morbid as it sounds, Ukraine war did the greatest favour to hungarian citizens, out of any group on the globe.
It was a blunder of such magnitude from Russia, that it utterly ensures that Orban (an opportunistic welfare queen style thief) will have no option but following the wishes of EU – which is good for hungarians. Even thenmost rabid hungarian nationalist would agree that EU is a force of good, if for nothing else, then for ensuring the ~⅓ of hungarians who are just on the wrong side of the border dont get fucked, like during Chaucescu era.

This war is not “random warsaw pact country vs. USSR” – its not 10million vs. over 300 million.
Its 42 million vs. 120 million.
When one considers that vietnam (at the time of the war 40 million) beat the US (~300 million) i wouldnt have put my money on Russia losing the fight against insurgency even if it took Kiyv in 3 days and whole country in a week.
…we are years into it, and its not exactly becoming more likely that Russia is going to win. Especially due to their own attrocities.
Which ensure that Ukranians cannot pick “surrender and live under Putin” as a realistic option. If they are on the backfoot, its a choic of “do we go silently into the night?”
As such Russia’s plan to victory hinges on sombody surrendering whom they told they will torturw & execute after surrendering – unlikels.
