  1. Time to let the invisible hand of the market determine whether I can get a Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe on any given day!

  2. So you will be able to get a good discount when eating at Wendy’s during slow times of the day? Nope, never going to happen.

  3. Although this is an interesting snippet, fast food shouldn’t be a regular part of anyone’s diet. If it is, start to slowly make changes away from it. This is what I did when FF was still affordable. Now, there is NO way I am buying a $12 value meal on the regular. I still get a craving for some Taco Bell now and then or perhaps a Culvers burger, but these are rare occasions. U can easily make better food at home with minimal effort

  4. As a former chef this is absolutely going to bite them in the ass lol.

  6. This CEO will lose their job within a year of implementation.

  7. Do the employees see any of this extra revenue? If not this makes absolutely zero sense.

  8. The last few times I went to Wendy’s it was really bad. Yet, very expensive. I have stopped going and prefer Culver’s now if I have to get fast food. It’s a shame really because I remember Wendy’s was really good growing up.

I generally don’t see the appeal of most fast food anymore. It’s not much cheaper than a local sit down, generally filthy out of date interiors near me, uninterested employees.

    I don’t see how this helps Wendy’s.

  9. Awesome, guess i’ll be taking my business elsewhere during surge pricing out of sheer protest for this lunacy. It’s hardly worth the cost as it is and I have a long list of alternative options if im feeling like junk food

  10. Someone high up at Wendy’s corporate didn’t learn about substitute goods in Econ 100.

  11. Elastic Pricing was a thing with drink vending machines at the beach 30 years ago.

Pretty soon we are going to have facial recognition and have Individual Based Pricing. If you are known to spend money or be rich: higher prices. If you are poor or a cheap bastard: lower prices.

Pull up to the fuel pump in an expensive car: guess what the cost of fuel will be for you!

  12. Will they have an outside price sign that varies in real time, like gas stations?

Their costs don’t change so they’re just grabbing extra profits.

Gave up on Wendy’s long ago.

  13. Pfft, Wendy’s is gross anyways. Hope they bankrupt themselves with this shitty idea

  14. They can market it as a discount during a slow period, or a premium during surges. Ultimately, they are going to charge what the market will bear… as they should! People will vote with their wallets!

The idea of surge pricing for restaurants seems like a good idea in general, provided they can give consumers some sort of price clarity before they walk in the door. It smooths out demand… which should improve the customer experience, and reduce stress on the staff.

  15. I like Wendy’s food but this is just a terrible idea. whoever came up w this idea should be fired. They’re offering food, not a service like uber or lyft.

  16. Is it greed ? Not good with the billion dollar profit . Neeed moreeeeeee
