  1. There is pretty much no doubt that this has been discussed. It would be a problem otherwise, tbh. We need to be ready for anything. But then it’s also complicated for some countries to admit such talks happened, because for their people it’s a move towards war. We have to move carefully. Whatever, if the conversation had not started, it has now. 🇪🇺👍🇺🇦

  2. So there is this talk of troops yet most that can will not even supply long range weapons because “escalation”.

  3. They discussed a A no fly zone earlier in the war .

Nato would immediately have total air superiority in occupied Ukraine over Russias outdated 4 gen aircraft , all of whom were originally designed in the 80s or 90s. .

there is very little risk to our pilots getting shot down , especially compared to the risk of putting boots on the ground .

I just can’t understand why the option is not even being considered .

  4. I suspect that the Western intelligence communities are projecting that without US aid coming in, Russia will slowly push its away across much of Ukraine. Putting peacekeepers in now, would be far less risky than putting them in when the country is collapsing in the fall.

  5. Any chance this is an effort to scare the republicans Into supporting Ukraine ? I. e. “You don’t send aid, we’ll go in ourselves and you get a nice WW3”?

  6. Honest opinion from people in this sub, is Ukraine going to lose? And by that I mean will russia take it all the way into western Ukraine?

  7. I think the thinking here is – the US can’t be relied upon anymore; if Russia is left to its own devices, it will slowly push further west until it takes large chunks or the entirety of Ukraine.

Better to put European troops on the ground in unoccupied western Ukraine now as a deterrent, than let them take the entire country and start eying up their next target.

  8. One thing that could be done is to use NATO units to free up UA assets. Manning air defence batteries in places like Kyiv, Liviv or Odesa so UA units can move to the front. We’ve already seen an uptick in Russian air losses, and I fir one think they should be higher.

Plus Russia can’t claim the west is attacking them, civilians will be protected from terrorism, that’s it.

This could be too much too soon but they could also man part of the border with Belarus.

  9. I’m highly skeptical. My guess is that Macron is posturing because of the election and Putin is trying rally patriotic feeling to support his war.

  10. There should be NATO troops in Moldova right now.

  11. Do it. Place troops on their border so the Belarus. “They’re just doing training exercises with our future nato ally”

  12. We can « give » Rafale and Mirage 2000 to Ukraine only for them to be flown by French pilots ?
Is it not what russia did during the Korean or Vietnam war ?
