I don’t live in Finland. I had a finnish friend and I added Helsinki on my forecast app. Just stumbled upon this when I scrolled through it.

  1. These automatic weather data thingamabobs can be pretty random. One day one of them told my local weather conditions included a flood and a forest fire, at the same time. Looking out the window, reality wasn’t nearly as dramatic as one might have thought.

  2. Finland doesn’t have sandstrorms, so not real. But one of the most famous Finnish songs is Sandstorm by Darude.

  3. If there is a sandstorm you can confirm it by opening a window. If you hear a faint dududududuuuu then it’s Sandstorm for sure.

  4. Someone just accidentally released Darude from his cage

  5. The reason behind this is that some meteorological codes are the same for sandstorm and blowing snow. Obviously a human can understand which one it should be by context, but stupid weather apps can’t.
