  1. Why only 1 day a year? Police should do traffic controls once a week randomly in all Belgium.

  2. Shit, that reminds me that i need to renew mine…

  3. > “Niet te begrijpen na wat in Gent is gebeurd”

Do they seriously think people who drive without a drivers license give a shit about what happened in Gent? This seems like feigned surprise…

If I had asked them that day “do you think people will stop driving without a license now” would they have answered ÿes”?

  4. A rule that is not enforced is not a rule that will be followed.

  5. Question for our resident *traffic cop*: do the cars these people are caught in, get impounded?

Because that should be the start, and I’d go further. No licenses also means no car insurance (not that they care), but there should be more focus on them not being able to get a car.

Let’s say someone’s license is revoked for 2 weeks. Car gets impounded for those 2 weeks, so on top of the fine you pay a storage fee. Someone loses it completely, impounded and public auction. So now they need another car. If a friend “lends” them their car, same deal as above. If they “steal” (I really didn’t know officer) the car, impounded for the duration of the trial, extra sentence for car theft, and getting sued for damages by the owner of the car. If someone sells them the car, a dealership loses its trading licenses, or in case of a private sale the seller gets the same fines as the licensesless driver.
