  1. But only if it gets plugged in every night. Which studies have shown does not happen the majority of the time.

    Fossil fuel use will continue with PHEVs so there is huge interest by oil companies in pushing them.

  2. I’m betting the sponsor of this study is heavily factoring in the manufacturing footprint and failing to see the entire lifetime of a car. Like the other comment suggests: if you are plugging in your phev every night and not going to the gas station…. you might as well have gotten an EV.

  3. A similar study was done here in Denmark. Showed many of the same conclusions but the overall conclusion was that most Hybrid owners ended up not charging their car and that most of the time it was driven as a regular petrol car with added weight. So it was recommended that Hybrids excluded from the environmental tax break.

  4. The complexity of a dual engine can worries me. We have an electric.
