Hi!
I’m looking for a bit of help here
I’m a Pole living outside of Poland since I was 7, and I am a member of a Polish organisation in my country of residence.
Recently some people gave us trouble over displaying the Polish flag with the coat of arms rather than just the white and red
I know that the flag with the coat of arms has for almost a 100 years been the flag of the diaspora prominent during the PRL era
Would anyone mind helping find some sources backing this? As of now barring picture evidence I’ve only found 1 article from 2007 from prezydent.pl of prezydent Kaczyński acknowpedging its use
Any help is very welcome thanks!

It’s an official state flag, as opposed to a national flag. So technically it is only appropriate for the Polish state to fly. However, Polish diaspora regularly use this flag abroad to make it more recognizable. I think the thing is it is more recognizable to non-Poles, while the regular national flag is completely recognizable to Poles and those more familiar with foreign affairs.
Not sure if u should fly this desing, it is braking like 3 rules of heraldics at once. I won’t call this ‘abomination’, but I know ppl who would.
AFAIK this flag is used outside of Polish borders, by businesses and offices like embassies. I don’t think it should matter much to anyone outside of our borders, considering there are other countries with the exact same or sjmilar flag.
