This is the third version of the painting. In the first, you apparently could still see how annoyed Wilhelm I was with Bismarck (the painting didn’t survive WWII).
Interesting fact is that it was proclaimed in Versailles, France.
Worst catastrophe since the fall of the Soviet Union, as Vladimir Putin would say.
This took place in die Wartburg in Eisenach did it not? Studied there some years back and our guide said the grand hall there was where Germany first became unified. Or at least that’s where the idea was hatched?
My favorite event in history
Wait, it’s my palace !
Heil dir im siegerkranz, Herrscher des Vaterlands,…
God that anthem is way better than the current one.
Bearded dude in the left foreground. You do not mess around with that guy.
*Aggressively downvotes*
One of the bigger tragedies of the continent, ESPECIALLY because ty was the prussians who did it
Damn what a feeling must have been to be in that room during this historic event, I’m jealous of the photographer.

Well, that worked out great.

A bloody mistake – just like that of Italy as well.
literally the day that ended a path of peace for Europe tsk tsk
If only it was done by Saxony or Bavaria instead of Prussia.
Man to think that the empire didn’t even last 50 years is so wild.
