  1. The economic situation that gave us the NHS, loads of nationalisation, and a million new homes? Let’s fucking go.

  2. Explains to an extent why they can’t commit to much until they know what mess they’re left with.

It’s like trying to decide what to do with a house you inherit knowing full well the squatters, who outstayed their welcome a long time ago, have pulled out and sold off copper pipes and wiring to mates to sell back to the owner at a mark up, smashed up the kitchens and loos during illicit Covid parties (during which some had affairs and/or assaulted others leading to them being forcibly kicked out), and then salted the earth on the way out to leave lasting damage, assuming the sewage they’ve left leak out after blocking the pipes hasn’t got there first.

  3. And in the wake of the Second World War, Labour of old, socialist times created the NHS, the single greatest unequivocally good thing the UK has ever done in all its history.

Today’s Labour aren’t fit to hide in the shadow of such giants.

  4. Getting the good ol excuses in early (I hate every political party)

  5. Full of shit. It’s nowhere near as bad as it was in 2010.

  6. Full of shit. It’s nowhere near as bad as it was in 2010.

  7. Well they did inherit an amazing situation in 97, and changed a lot of financial regulations, allowed the banks to do bad things, then left us a note when they left in 2010 saying no money left. Also had Blair found those weapons of mass destruction yet? Labour should never be let near power again.

  8. Sounds a bit like the “I’m afraid that there is no money” note, back when Labour were voted out. If only we had some viable third party, the current system is a joke and the public are the punchline.

  9. Yes but Labour will only be pouring Patrol on the situation! Suppose they can’t do any worse than the conservatives have done! Same destination just will just get there a bit sooner.

  10. at this point I find it harder & harder to believe the tories are not deliberately wrecking the country & are hell bent on doing as much damage as possible for as long as possible.

  11. Same excuses the Tories made in 2010. If any of you are still expecting anything less than neoliberal austerity politics again then prepare yourself for disappointment

  12. Well the traitory party still have time to fuck it up some more. I am expecting the next budget to fuck things up for the next government as they know they will not have to deal with it. The one thing they have shown us is they don’t give a fuck about the uk and it’s people.

  13. Already with their excuses for not sorting things out when they get into power.

  14. At least there was hope after the Second Workd War.

  15. worst economic situation since Second World War … so far

  16. A tory acquaintance in the know, tells me, its all labours fault.

  17. The new government needs to run some kind of Truth & Reconciliation inquiry when they come in. Whats going on at the moment feels like deliberate sabotage. You can already feel the traps being set, arsonists making as much smoke as possible and then 6 months after the election they’re going to start calling Labour useless for not putting out the raging inferno they have turned out home into. If it is not kept front and center in the public awareness what an absolute fucking mess the Tories are leaving behind I expect the public will just forget.

  18. Ahhh here come the excuses. Blame the last guys. Just like the tories did. Pretty certain it was not a bed of roses for Cameron after the mess they inherited.

  19. Sweet, if they are in a better economic condition than that I can’t wait to see what we are getting. NHS 2.0?

  20. So in these unprecedented times are they committing to an aggressive plan to get the economy going, reduce rampant wealth inequality and get back trading properly with the EU?

Or are they going to futz around at the edges and do basically nothing for fear of being called reckless?

I’m gonna vote for them but we all know it’s going to be the latter and not the former. If living standards don’t improve in that first parliament people will be disillusioned and will lurch toward reform or worse. We are in the midst of a slow motion disaster without some bold policies.

  21. Labour won’t be able to fix anything and will blame the Tories. Meanwhile us plebs will have to grin and bear it. Rinse and repeat a continuous shower of shit for the foreseeable future.

  22. Don’t worry they’ll find a way to fuck it up even worse.

  23. This really isn’t true. The 70s and 80s were much much worse – inflation was higher, unemployment was higher and there was a recession every other week. 2010 was also worse.
