So sad. For many of us, he was our introduction to dark comedy and self-deprecating humor. He will be missed. He was a legend.
You will be missed, sir.
Good night, sweet prince
Does this make us all orphans? RIP.
RIP to an absolute legend. He and Larry on Curb were a comedy duo from the Gods.
Man this guy was all over Comedy Central when it first appeared…
Richard Lewis 🍻
Oh this sucks. I just had this terrible pit of my gut feeling watching the new season of Curb that he was going to pass soon. I wish I was wrong. Thanks for the laughs and memories Richard Lewis!
Maybe if you tell me the BAD news in a GOOD way it won’t sound so bad.
RIP King 🙁
Aww..I really liked him
RIP. Loved his work
Rip. Now he’s obviously chilling with Funkhouser
So sad. I met him when I was at OSU in the 90’s. He was playing at The Newport. I worked in a head shop next door. He came in for a bowl. We chatted for a little while. Super cool. Down to Earth. RIP.
How much is Larry getting in the will?
Glad he got to do Curb with his buddies one last time.
Marathon of Curb tonight. RIP Mr. Lewis
RIP. Continued to deliver on one of the best comedy shows of all time right until the last season. He’ll be missed
Larry should have donated that kidney
He was great on Stern back in the day.
As a kid I first saw him in Robin Hood Men in Tights, funny dude and a legend. RIP.
RIP
One of the first few comedians that opened me up to stand up comedy.. just a hilarious human being he was
hopefully he got to pay the tab over Larry one last time. RIP
Goodnight, sweet Prince John. (My favorite roll of his, from “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.”)
You’ll be missed.
Ah man that will storyline this season’s gonna hit so much harder now… Hope we get a resolution to it
RIP a comedy legend
Gilbert, Norm and Richard. All comedy legends. RIP
His appearance in Robin Hood: Men in Tights is truly iconic!
Richard: A lot of people call me who are suicidal.
Larry: I don’t think you’d be my suicide call.
They had such great chemistry. RIP.
Will Larry get that Micky Mantle ball now?
But in all seriousness, RIP. I loved Richard on Curb; he was one of the greats. Such a legend.
It feels so weird when you get older and the ones who entertain you throughout your life just start to leave. But it is worst with comedians. They only brought me laughter, and I think that’s why it stings a little more.
He looked like he was 90 on the last episode of curb your enthusiasm, me and the wife both said he’d be dying asap
Larry David:
>Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me. He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.
HBO:
>We are heartbroken to learn that Richard Lewis has passed away. His comedic brilliance, wit and talent were unmatched. Richard will always be a cherished member of the HBO and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ families, our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and all the fans who could count on Richard to brighten their days with laughter.
Loved him in Robin Hood: Men in Tights , plus all the scenes with him + Larry are a classic.. so many great lines
