They must be planning to do something that really upsets people if they’re considering these steps.
Better to do it proactively as opposed to reactively.
Makes sense given some of the unacceptable abuse that some ministers have been experiencing, even in their own homes.
Always amusing to think that they didn’t already. I think it speaks to our character that people don’t generally need it in this country with a few exceptions.
I remember years ago I saw Michael D getting money out of an ATM in Galway. Granted he had one minder nearby at the car but you could essentially just walk right up to him.
Will Eamon Ryan get a bulletproof shield for his bike
Ah cmon guys, I’m sure with our tax rates you can get helicopters and T-1000s
A ‘modern civilised democracy’ where the ‘leaders’ require full time armed guards because the populace hate them so much. Interesting times.
Will they be electric cars?
Read as, fancier cars, and servants to get the shopping.
Why???
Many of people who will the most against this move will be exact reason why it’s happening at all.
Would it not be a better idea to treat the cause of this and not the effect. People are pissed off at the govt for a number of reasons (really take your pick on which) and people feel as if they aren’t listened to. Granted there are some idiots who will always lash out but being more open with the public would really do a lot
Not sure how I feel about this.
On the one hand, you have Scandinavian ministers who are getting public transport to work, but then you have the murder of Anna Lindh.
But I think mixing too many privileges with a Dail composed of full time politicians is a recipe for cocooned manchilds who are clueless about wider society. Imagine a Taoiseach who’s never had a job or taken public transport.
First signs that they’re country thinks they’re cunts
Definitely the right move. Say what you want about Stephen Donnelly but the abuse he’s gotten over the pandemic is so bad, and a lot of it over his appearance which is a bit deplorable
A woman threw a drink all over Leo last year (maybe the year before) when he was either leader or deputy leader of the country. The crazy thing is that she was left off without being charged…. what sort of message does that send out? A few hours community service would have done her no harm!
I read this as, some very unpopular decisions inbound!
It’s disappointing that this is required. We really need to get a handle on our loonies somehow
I mean maybe this wouldn’t be necessary if fucking crazy people didn’t protest outside of ministers residences.
Considering two ministers where murdered in England on last few years i think this is needed.
That’s the end of Leo Varadkar being accused of a crime.
30 Less Gardaí and 30 special positions for those most loyal to terrorist Drew Harris.
Need to protect themselves from the tenants they’re ass raping
Not surprising with all the payrises they’ve had in the last 3 years.
most ministers should be rotting inside of a prison cell if you ask me. I’m gonna be downvoted because this sub is a neo liberal hivemind but I don’t care. I have no empathy inside me for any minister or government figure in this country. they’re criminals and it’s time we treat them as such
Reduce their salary accordingly for this additional perk
A direct result of all those gobshites sending ministers death threats and “protesting” outside their houses.
What are they planning to announce
The FFG merger is complete, they’ve gone back to cars and bodyguards
Just dont give them the responsibility of answering phones lol
Now our tax money has to go paying for it thanks to all the stupid cunts who couldn’t resist going around harassing them. Well played dipshits.
