This is already well known and has nothing to do with Economics unless you want to talk about how profitable it is to sell the data.
Big data is the foundation for AI. If we really wanted to escape government or corporate control, we’d be making data freely available while passing laws about doxing, the right to be forgotten, and protection from victimless crimes (a lot of piracy and IP violations would fall into this if we bothered to legally define it). Privacy is basically a myth at this point, in practice what we have is anti doxing laws for the wealthy.
