Hungary says will sign defence industry deal with Sweden amid NATO bid • FRANCE 24 English

Now in other news Hungary will be signing a defense deal with Sweden the announcement coming ahead of the Swedish prime minister’s visit to Budapest this Friday hungary’s Parliament is expected to ratify Sweden’s NATO bid next week for more on what we can expect here is Dave keing

Reporting a couple days ago we got word from the Hungarian government that uh Hungarian prime minister uh um Orban Victor Orban had reached a deal with Swedish prime minister u christon in order to for Hungary to drop its veto but there’s no word on what kind of quidd proquo might have happened there

If any uh and so this visit by the Swedish prime minister ahead of that vote on Monday people will be keenly watching for any sign of what the deal was it could also be that Victor orban’s domestic political problems meant that they felt they just couldn’t handle this

As a as an external pressure any longer Orban is under severe pressure right now because of a pedophilia Scandal that’s happening in his government that’s seen the resignation of really high profile figures uh that Scandal has brought thousands of protesters out onto the streets and at the same time they’ve

Been under huge pressure from Washington and Brussels in order to drop this veto so it may be that Victor Orban just gave in here which it looks like that actually did happen also with Ukraine Hungary had been vetoing further EU Aid to Ukraine a whole emergency Summit had

To be called for 1st of February earlier this month to convince him but he relented and as far as we can tell actually didn’t get anything for that relent as opposed to in December when he was given 10 million EUR in Frozen funds in order to drop his veto on starting

Assession talks with Ukraine so it’s still a mystery and it could be that Hungary didn’t get anything here

  11. Viktor Orban pledged already in 2022 that Hungary will not be the last NATO member to ratify Sweden's membership bid when it was only Turkey and Hungary remaining to ratify. Yet all other NATO countries have ratified. This guy's word is worth nothing. Plus, the continuous blocking of EU aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. A total Putin puppet. Shame on the Hungarians for voting this Russian assets party in power yet again. If Ukraine falls, which may very well happen if EU and US aid to Ukraine stays halted and if Trump is elected US president which too may very well happen, then Hungary too will be at the crosshairs of Putin, because Trump has said the US will not help. Did the Hungarians learn nothing from the Russian control from 1945 to 1989?

    Swedens jet fighters are one of the best in the world, and finally it seems like the end of the line is here.
    Too bad some uses blackmail to get what they want. I mean, Orban could just have asked the swedes if Hungary could buy some more Gripen instead of make everyone pissed off with him.

  15. Seeing Turkey and Hungary use blackmail to support a Swedish membership to Nato really, really should be a big warning flag as to where thesee countrys friendship lies.
    Seeing how Russia gets there goods transported would be a second warning flag to keepimg theese partoed to close.

  18. When people speak about the "EU army" this is one of the reasons why it's a bad idea. Most likely there would be more blackmailing
