So, up to the woman who’s pregnant and not a bunch of old men? Those wacky French…
The United States of America is a third world country.
Why the quotation marks around freedom ?
France loves to tout how they are not followers or “lapdogs” of the US but they totally are. This is happening now in France as a response to the US, in an obvious attempt to get clout. The French have an inferiority complex when compared to Americans and try to overcome this by spouting how their social benefits are far superior. And fyi, the vast majority of states have sufficient abortion rights, and any American can travel to any of those states to receive one.
As the senate voted the text in the same terms as the national assembly, the only step before this freedom (the same degree of protection under french constitutional law as a right) is definitely inserted in the french constitution is a 3/5 majority vote of the entire parliament in congress (national assembly and senate together), that should take place next monday. As the two houses voted the text with a large majority, it is practically a done deal.
you mean the worldwide normally accepted policy. yea… wish we didnt have a propaganda problem over here
It’s so weird that a country like the US that was founded on civil liberties and personal freedom, rather than having a nanny state making moral choices for you, is going in the other direction.

At least the French get it 💡💡💡
Didn’t they also made it illegal to get DNA test for children so it’s easier for women to do paternity fraud?
Smart, don’t make the same mistake we did.
The title seems disingenuous as this is up to 14 weeks.
After that it would require the approval of two doctors citing confirmed health risks to the mother or baby.
Seems like a fair middle ground to land on, would the US go for it?
The article doesn’t mention until which week they have this right,
it just says they have a constitutional right. So what does that mean?
I hope the RW’ers here in the states gnash their teeth and can’t sleep for months. Vote!!!!
The democrats in the US have had this opportunity multiple times and choose not to do anything about it. They’re still being hailed as heroes of democracy here.
So this applies to fathers who don’t want to have a child too right?
I just wish our American cousins had the same freedom that the French do. It’s such a shame that American women aren’t all allowed control over their own bodies and that their government is controlling them and making decisions for them. Freedumb.

Terrible decision..
America: and I took offense to that
According to [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_France#21st_century_liberalization), abortion is illegal in France after 16 weeks. So unless they changed the time limit (and I can’t find anyone reporting that they did), getting an abortion in France is still more [restrictive than in most of the US](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States).
Love the knee jerk comments from dumb Americans who clearly didn’t read the law they are praising lol
As it should be. Even the French get it
American here…
You lucky ducks.
As it should be.
France is such a cool place, croissants , escargots and reproductive rights
Wellllllll that’s there problem and there laws get over turned like I change socks
Crazy how every time in the U.S. something goes wrong the French are like “let’s be humans and get this going correctly”. Crazy French people
How is the US literally reversing progress? It blows my mind to see.
How does child support work there?
Don’t ever grow complacent about that freedom, either, France. Oh nm, look at what country I’m talking to lol, y’all probably had a protest yesterday.
