  1. Russia is clearly preparing for a confrontation with EU member state(s) in the next 5-10 years, and has been doing so since 2000.

We have to recognise that the old golden days are over and we have to take Russia, Iran, China, North Korea seriously as a threat.

Russia is not afraid to do all kinds of shit all over the EU and the US, and is gradually increasing its aggressiveness.

We must at least begin to counterbalance their level of aggression.

But perhaps more importantly, European politicians need to stop virtue-signalling, talking about sanctions and freezing Russian assets. Either do it or don’t, but dont propagate it just to make yourself look like you’re doing something.

  2. Good that another european leader is realist, the world has to stop fooling itself on ruzzian intentions.

  3. Macron says openly what many leaders say privately, including on strategic autonomy.

  4. More precisely she wants the West to send their people to fight in Ukraine, not Estonians.

  5. Estonia stares down the barrel of the shotgun so it makes so much sense from their pov

  6. Hold up. So is Russia a threat or a shithole with no army that’s falling apart and is kept together by a dictator with cancer?

  7. Cool, do that with your troops but then you can’t invoke Article 5 when you get hit.

  8. Fico probably want EU to retort on his comment that EU would never send-in its troop onto Ukraine (like German did), then Russia would escalate the invasion efforts up to the point that Ukraine would never be able to defend with the troops it has. Then Russia would hold on to EU’s words and would ridicule EU whenever it want to break such promise.

  9. Funny how the leaders themselves never present themselves at the frontlines.

  10. So France and Estonia leaves NATO and EU just to combat Russia? If yes they’re freakin awesome and good bye to them, if not then they should shut up and concentrate on their own countries and on helping Ukraine instead of threatening the world with WW3!

  11. Boots on the ground is and always was the only solution to this problem.

  12. The children are screaming so loudly that they can’t hear what was said. No one is going to send their army to Ukraine, but people should not completely turn their backs on this possibility. It’s normal to be prepared for anything given what a bastard Putin is

  13. No thanks… No nato troops for ukraine. Ukraine is not a nato member…

  14. Just as planned all along. Nothing but some self fulfilling Zionist prophecy bs.

  15. Well sure fking thing, Kallas herself won’t be going to the trenches anyway.

  16. Russia will attack. Its not a question. Russia have never paid for thier crimes so they do not know the consequences of crimes.

  17. The idea that we should completely rule out anything while Russia is constantly threatening to nuke capital cities is ridiculous. Troop deployments to Ukraine would not only give our troops relevant training and experience, but would help free up Ukrainian troops for frontline roles and rotations. No more appeasement, no more toothlessness. Russia must be soundly defeated.

  18. Macron and Kallas are smart for not ruling anything out. This sends a power signal to Russia that we will not let Ukraine fall.

  19. If Russia can threaten us with nukes every other day, destabalizing our democracy with fake shit, and covert support for the far right then I think the time is right to get more agressive with our response. Putin is a mobster who only understands hard power. He simply thinks he can get away with anything because he thinks we are weak. Let us show him that we are not weak. Lets start using all the tools we have to counter this shitstain on human development that is modern Russia. We are way stronger than Russia, lets start to act accordingly.

  20. “Defense is not Escalation” – but there is a difference if Ukraine defends itself or NATO its helping them to defend. Because then, its not that they defend themselve, but others defend on their behalf. This is just bureaucrats pushing the small print in contracts. Definition-pushing and trying to trick …

  21. The first “troops” that should be involved, should be the family of politicians. And in Estonias case, women. Easy talking the talk, while not having to walking the walk.

  22. Yes this is completly true, If Russia wins war then we will have more then one contry be involved in wars. Nobody has license to srpead democracy except US.

  23. Let’s fucking go! We’ve been preparing for this for more than 7 decades!

  24. Individual countries ain’t going to do anything if the US is not onboard. This is just to cast doubt towards Russia about what actions could possibly take place vs a “nope, doesnt matter what you do we never will deploy troops”

  25. How about we just deploy them and then refuse to admit it.

Just say “We have no troops in Crimea”.

  26. This woman is as crazy as Macron. Maybe they both smoked something which affected their brain but this is a weak excuse to threaten European security.

  27. Estonia has introduced male only conscription into the army.

She is making sure she is not sacrifced.

  28. And when the shit hits the fan they all going to go to their islands and bunkers and what not and the normal citizens will have to deal with the consequences

  29. its delicate

the russian state is not Nazi Germany

but they are a revanchist power. Estonia sees itself threatened as a former SSR by a revanchist russian state

The west has been all to complacent about dancing on the nose of the russian state and their interest, while Russia itself is a ruthless nation on the road to become a pariah state

They prepare for every scenario though and they are cautious while acting upon what a revanchist state does: reclaiming “former glory”

the concern of the estonians is legitimate, but not all nations in Europe feel that way due to history.

The russian regime are not Nazis, but they are nonetheless gangsters as they can be found anywhere to certain degrees in the halls where power gathers.

We have so many crisis and one that could be solved is a now non existent treaty for nuclear proliferation.

if there is one thing that is avoidable it is nuclear annihilation

Estonians are right in the regard that we should show strength as a backup for any kind of negotiating scenario. its the same as tigers: dont attack me or you will pay

they already payed in Ukraine. the economy might ironically be better due to sanctions, but the blood they spilled hurts

  30. Not going to war for my country, therefore even less for the EU.

  31. I agree 100%.

We don’t need to send troops to Ukraine as attack-forces. I recommend we don’t do that. What we absolutely can do though is put European troops into the stable and secure Western Ukrainian territories to ensure there is less risk of the war spilling back to the West.

Also, to ensure our European borders are safe from a hostile mobilized war-ready Russian military. Who could very well advance straight from Western Ukraine into EU territory.

I mean come on, Putin regime is waging an aggressive genocidal war in a European country that borders the EU, and claiming this is apparently a “legitimate” defense strategy. Somehow us putting in troops near our own borders with the consent of another country is “escalation”.

Ridiculous. We cannot allow Russia to play this game where they act like they are allowed to direct the narrative and we just have to play by their made-up rules and ask their permission to defend ourselves. Russia is way over it’s head. We are the more powerful ones, and we have international law on our side.

  32. It’s amazing how much our officials wants to be a part of this war. Unbelievable.

  33. Go to r/combatfootage to see how it looks like to get a drone dropped to your face, how it’s being hit by shrapnel and waiting days for the merciful death to come…
All those warmongers, yet another time fooled by their leaders…

  34. Obligatory: fuck Russia, Putin, his dog, his horse, his mom, his favourite chair, etc

But this is so dumb. There is no mechanism to do this unless countries send their forces individually. The threat of armed intervention is therefore pointless since there is no chance in hell the US would support that. Which would be important since Article 5 couldn’t legally be activated in such a scenario.

So… what’s the plan exactly? Send Estonian soldiers to kick it up with the Russians then let them get absolutely pasted because they have literally zero support? What the fuck is that?

This is basically like if your friend was being bullied at school so you say “leave him alone or I’ll fight you!”. But the bully knows you’re harmless at 100cm tall with a 40kg frame, it’s your 200cm tall, 100kg older brother he’s actually scared of and at the moment he’s off shoving crayons up his ass.

What our politicians should be doing is shutting the fuck up about “we plan to do X” *and actually fucking do it*! But sadly our spineless politicians are all talk and the Russians know that which is why they aren’t backing down.

  35. Even if you don’t really mean it, it’s idiotic to not maintain some strategic ambiguity. All options should be on the table. Declaring we won’t send any soldiers, we won’t send this and do that doesn’t send the right message to Russia.

The message should be clear, we will take measures as we see fit, and surprise you. And sometimes be a reckless pedestrian, step in front and see if they want to call the bluff or forcefully brake. Doesn’t have to be troops, but make them feel the heat.

  36. The top 2 comments are advocating for nuclear war with Russia

80% of daily posts are concerned with Russia and on most comment sections there’s an angry mob discussing how to invade the largest nuclear superpower in the world.

Like, do these people ever go out? Do they know what nuclear war means? This subreddit is utter shit, it’s an echo chamber with no useful information whatsoever

  37. Remember when all those nations in Europe “supported” there soldiers and civilians going off to fight in Spanish civil war in the 1930’s? It’s going to be like that.

  38. It’s interesting to see how France is trying to get a role as an EU leader in geopolitical questions while Germany slows down.
