What’s good for the ‘economy’ isn’t always what is good for a society. Unrestricted immigration is not to the benefit of western society.
They do it with economic rents, aka unearned income. Should boarders be open so people have more opportunities, yes, but that isn’t the main reason practically all gains to productivity go to the top. We need unearned wealth to be distributed to the people as both UBS and UBI.
