Labour and Starmer aren’t popular – but the Tories are even less so. The public say it’s time for change, and prefer Labour to the Conservatives, but expectations of the party are low.

not surprising when they’ve just promised to continue all of the tories policies. britain is fucked and no one seems interested in trying to fix it. see yous in 2030 when england vote in whatever the national front has rebranded to these days
Things are so fucked it’s not like labour can come in and wave a magic wand.
That’s pretty much my view on the matter, too. The tories need to be out of government. They have practically run this country to the ground, but I am not really that enamoured by Starmer and Labour. (Or currently, any party for that matter).
I genuinely hope that for the sake of the country, he will be as successful as Labour supporters seem to believe he will be. But I am not expecting much.
Okay, I’ll admit, a red Tory lording over us will be slightly less odious than a blue Tory. However….
The difference between each is becoming increasingly blurred, Labour today are the Tories of ten years ago, only the far right of the Tories have ventured beyond the pale.
I imagine New Labour/middle ground Tory coupled with the media will relentlessly attack the SG and independence supporters.
I mean I don’t expect much but maybe I’ll be surprised I just want us to feel like a more serious country. Labour leaders are generally better for the country.
Sounds about right. Better than the tories, but that isn’t saying much.
TBF, it’s getting difficult to tell the difference.
Starmer is the wrong man at the wrong time. You could put a dead parrot in as Labour leader – and they will still win.
He is probably going to be handed the largest majority in history – and is so fucking scared of his own shadow he will achieve nothing with it, and will get hounded out in disgrace after one term.
This is standard fare though isn’t it? Generally the incumbent parties lose elections rather than the opposition winning them.
Can English people vote for SNP? Would be a better choice than the self serving powers that be.
Starmer is a blank slate. We know what he’s not but not what he is. Like Bella from Twilight. We know she’s not popular or sporty. But we don’t know what she is.
How depressing. Not exactly 1997’s “Things Can Only Get Better” – more like “The Fiscal Rules Say No.”
The problem is that people want everything fixed, funded properly and working, but at the same time don’t want tax increases. if you want a system that works you have to pay for it. (And yes some of that can come from corporations and high earners and anti corruption but it won’t be enough to repair the damage of 14 years of austerity.
Not voting for him.
A dead person would be better than the tories but labour are a watered down version of them which is why im voting greens this time. Call it a protest vote
