If only there was a way that SpaceX could track something like that?
:surprised Pickachu face: /s
It’s almost like Starlink has no idea where base stations are situated, or incapable of disabling data in a region.
Surely Starlink can glean intelligence details from these ‘rogue’ connections. Similar to a Net Admin identifying details of all connected devices.
Sounds like Treason
Elon statement about “starlink terminals being sold to Russia is categorically false” aged like milk in the hot sun.
Can’t spell **Treason**l without elon
Don’t you need more than a terminal for them to work? Don’t they need a starlink account?
I smell another round of sanctions coming up
Seriously though, how could you tell if it’s Ukrainian or Russian if they are being used in the same areas in Ukraine?
So I briefly got starlink for a cottage. It worked fine and whatever but the thing about it was you have to give them the location you intend to use the device from. I had given my home address which was about 100km from where I wanted to use it. It simply refused to work until I changed the intended location. Yes, they have a mobile usage plan as well but they know where the terminals are located and who owns them.
What I’m saying is Space X knows where the terminals are and who is being billed. If the Russians are using them in Ukraine it’s because they’ve been granted permission to do so.
Has any press asked the question to the DOD or President. “How is something that can easily be tracked and shut off ending up in russia?”
Was pretty easy for them to shut them off for Ukraine.
