  6. The US system of government baffles me. The whole government shutdown thing is stupid. There’s a reason the rest of the world doesn’t have their budgets become something that requires politicians to vote on and instead have their Treasury handle things. Having politicians able to hold the country hostage for political leverage is crazy.

  7. So Johnson finally allows the bill to the House of Representatives, then what.
    The House deliberate it for sometime, makes amendments to it and …. Sends it back to the Senate for the Senate to deliberate and vote.
    This is like firemen arriving at the scene of a fire , then arguing as to which hose to use and where to hook onto a water source. By the time they make up their minds, the house has either burnt down, or escalated to the point of no return.
    With allies like this ……
    On the other hand, we have the European Union who promised a million shells, but only delivered 300,000, and are too pompous and arrogant to buy shells from outside Europe. They basically had to have a country go-fund me to put up money to import shells.

    In the mean time Ukrainians are retreating from previously help positions, loosing life and limb.

    God help us all with this kind of support.

  20. Johnson cannot be trusted any further than one can throw him. But he is under enormous pressure not the least because he and other MAGA are causing the Republicans to lose the independent and traditional Reagan type conservative voters support. Any state the Republicans are not able to gerrymander the election districts puts the state at risk.

    So I suspect behind closed doors Johnson is being told to get with the program or else risk being the architect of the downfall of Republican hopes to hold the House in the forthcoming election.

  24. Unfortunately it dosent seem like he actually said this. I can’t find the quote anywhere. I hope he did and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s his intention because Republicans and dems are now confirmed to be making a discharge petition to be dropped in early March but I don’t think he has really said this publicly yet

The real news that might point to Johnson actually meaning to pass aid is that earlier today atleast two Republicans,, including rep Fitzpatrick have confirmed that they are pursuing a discharge petition if Johnson dosent act within a week or so on the aid bill. This put alot of pressure on him because now it’s actually looking like the support might be there from enough Republicans to pass a discharge petition on the funding if Johnson dosent hold a vote on it. I’m guessing this will push him to holding a vote on an amended aid bill soon because there would be nothing worse for his career then having a successful discharge petition against him. That would put Johnson in the history books as a complete failure permanently

  30. F’ing lying traitor. It’s always something w these conservatives. They can never just do something, even when given what they’ve asked for, they always say “nope, we now need this other thing too.” There are no “good faith” discussions or agreements with the Republicans.

  32. We know this will go. He delayed and made excuses on ukraine for months. This is just another. The GOP will delay government funding as long as they can, then they’ll come up with another excuse. They know funding Ukraine is popular, so they have to make it look like they aren’t actively working against it. You have to be stupid not to see it, but it’s enough to fool a lot of people in this country.
