A man who admitted to having sex and being in possession of drugs on Londonderry’s historic walls has been fined £500.
Jonathan James Elliott, 28, with an address at Ravensdale Street in Belfast, admitted to a charge of indecent behaviour in a public place on 1 February.
He also pleaded guilty to four charges of possession of controlled drugs.
The court heard officers saw the defendant and a female on the walls and noticed a strong smell of cannabis.
A subsequent search by police uncovered cannabis and prescription drugs.
During police interview the defendant made full admissions to the charge of indecent behaviour in a public place.
A defence solicitor said that Derry’s Walls had seen some historic events over the years, but did not think this would rank as one of them.
He said that Elliott had believed he was in “a discreet place” and regretted his actions.

Did he surrender himself to the police though?
Balls to the walls indeed 👀
Phil Coulter will be writing a song about this next.
